GALLBLADDER REMOVAL AND DEPRESSION GO HAND IN HAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had my gallbladder removed over 35 years ago. I lived with depression for 34 YEARS, yes 34 years!! There was no doctor in the world who had the answer!!!
I found out myself over the internet and started taking BAF (Bile Acid Factors) What a wonderful result. NO MORE DEPRESSIONS! Absolutely amazing! I am a new person!!!

My partner is 81 and had laparoscopic surgery to remove his gall bladder a week ago. Although he did suffer some internal bleed for two days after the operation, which has kept him in hospital, he is now considered physically fit to go home tomorrow. My biggest concern is his depression and confusian. he wells up for no apparent reason, and has little appetite. It is so unlike him, he has always had a very sharp brain, a happy personality and an excellent appetite. He does have a urine infection for which he is receiving antibiotics.
He is asking for anti-depressants, but I am hoping once the anaesthesia and infection are out of his body he will be his old self once again.

Sorry to hear this , I had similar problems and we all put it down too the two lots of anaesthetics I had as my operation went wrong , I guess in an elderly person Even a small amount can effect different people in different ways Speak to his Gp or even the surgeon , As depression is not a nice place to be , I hope things work out and get sorted asap

I had gallbladder surgery two weeks ago. I'm not able to eat much. The lil that I tried to eat comes back up. Only thing that stays down is fruit and unsalted saltine crackers. Im still hurting like I was before I had the surgery. I feel like a depression is coming on because of this. Especially since I'm not able to eat anything. Can having gallbladder surgery cause you to have depression?

You are a flipping Rock Star!!!! Than you so much!!! I have been researching for a while and trying to find a decent way to comprehend the role that the gallbladder plays in our bodies. I've recently come across an article in a med journal that discusses the significance of bile salts and how as of recent (passed 8 yrs) many studies and research have been done to determine the importance of bile acids: signaling glucose homeostasis, lipid metabolism and regulating energy that is expanded. Our gallbladder is important in helping the liver function but also it is being stated that a great deal of our serotonin is created in our stomach/liver vs in the pituitary gland (brain). So, a few things to observe... having no gallbladder will effect drug metabolism, so if you are/were taking meds, your ability to metabolize the meds may be affected (as I have experienced). Also, Post Cholecystectomy Syndrome is extremely vague and encompasses as a wide variety of possible symptoms. I have been having an array of issues and have been going to the dr and surgeon; CTScan, Labs, etc... I've taken 5 different types of high end enzymes, Astragalus, and a myriad of other supplements to help me get back on the mend. But, I can say the following things have seemed to consistently help: Beet powder, honey, pure apple juice in the morning, try to avoid deep fried foods and high fats, try to go for a walk after you eat (even if it is 4 mins), stretch, avoid any potential negative stimuli, milk thistle, fresh ginger, tumeric, try to avoid taking too many supplements~ try to heal yourself through food vs purchased tablets, get your hormone levels checked (see estrogen dominance), Vitamin C, Omegas and try to eat little meals throughout the day, do not forget to eat and lastly I have been putting cucumber slices & lemon in my water and drink tons of it through out the day.
Stay Strong! Don't be too easy on yourself to the point of atrophy but take 5-10 mins a couple times a day to decompress. This whole thing stinks but don't panic, we'll get through this!!!!
