Hi! My best friend hasn’t been to school for a couple of days. I phoned him and he told me that he had developed a granduloma in his inner ear, and that his ear is bleeding and that he has some sort of small ball in his ear. I have never heard of such thing and I think I haven’t understood him very well. Can anybody tell me more about this problem and if it is treatable? Thank you in advance
When granuloma develops, the inner layer of the eardrum grows out through the tube's lumen and a mass of blood vessel forms over the tube. This mass of blood vessels forms a ball which can fill the ear canal. It often bleeds and drains pus. It looks like a pimple this ball. To get rid of this granuloma, steroid containing antibiotic ear drops are prescribed. These ear drops should melt the granuloma in a two-three weeks time but to make sure that the infection is resolved, granuloma should be removed. Granuloma is attached to a tube by a thin stock and can be removed by suction.
