I am 16 running 800's in track. Half way through season. Run on weekends to improve my times. Vomit everytime after a race. Why do I do this? Told I was out of shape by coaches at beginning of season. I weigh 140lbs 5'6" tall muscular build. Have always been a sprinter, having difficulty changing my mentality on how to run a race. Improving times each race. Running 2 min 11 sec. Changing my diet. Any suggestions to eliminating vomiting or decreasing this. Thanks.
Please don't rely on the "out of shape" diagnosis. Vomiting after a race is not normal. When you have this level of activity, almost daily, you've got to have a stable nutritional plan that includes alot of fluids. The vomiting is your body's response to something. It's trying to tell you something, and you've got to listen. Your first step would be to tell your parents so that they can get you to a real doctor. The doctor can rule out any problems. sometimes people vomit as a result of emotional issues. How stressed are you before/during a competition? What's the temperature where you are? These are all speculations, however. I'm sure that you've heard about the h.s. athletes that have died as a result of pushing themselves and ignoring symptoms in the name of toughness. Don't become a statistic. Be a healthy athlete...get to a doctor and check your nutritional practices with him/her too. Does this make sense?
