It's arthritis according to 4 drs I've been to
Reply
I am 53 and have recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I noticed the same type of lump a number of weeks ago along with neck and shoulder pain on the same side. I get an xray day after tomorrow. Not thinking I'll get much of an answer based o what I am reading here.

I went to ear, nose, throat specialist and he said its arthritis. I have to have a cat scan to rule everything else out but hes confident its arthritis.

I have a lump as well; the diagnosis is pretty certain and is not really relevant. What is IMPORTANT, even if you are afraid to know, is to see a Dr. sooner rather than later. As the replies reflect and the Dr.'s answer indicated, there are many possible causes. In many cases there are treatment options and time may be a factor in their efficacy. If the answer is what you fear (i.e. cancer) the sooner the diagnosis the better your chances of fighting it. If too much has already happened in your body and the prognosis suggests a limited life expectancy, there is much to do/take care of/think about and I believe it is better to know what one is facing. Also hospice is a great program for people with terminal diagnoses and it does not mean an immanent death. You are helped if actively in decline due to the disease, discharged if stable for a length of time, readmitted if circumstances change. Some people are with a hospice agency for years before ready to let go. Take someone supportive with you if that will help you get to a Dr. Reach out to the people that care for you and remember you probably are much stronger than you think. To all of you - best of luck

hi I have a lump on my clavicle too - I am 62 and work at the drs - showed it to her and she said to take ibuprofen for a couple of days and if it doesn't go away to got to my doctors - I am registered somewhere else. Have had ibuprofen for 3 days now and can still feel it, will go to drs next week and see what they say. so many different explanations on here from basically nothing to worry about to cancer!

I'm really sorry but that is the WORST advice I have ever heard from a doctor. cancer can grow slowly and spread slowly and take a painfully long time to end a life. only you know your body and if its not right get it checked!!!

I went to my dr today for a lump on my right clavicle. She believes it is cartalage that has built up due to an arthritic condition. I also have Fibromyalga. My dr is sending me for a ct scan just to be sure it isnt anything serious.

My husband noticed a similar lump about a month ago. He is not diabetic but had a toe removed 4 months ago due to infection. Last week the doctor did an X-ray that came back normal...no fracture, no dislocation, some osteoarthritis.

Hi, I'm Cristi. I am 14 years old. I noticed a have a hard bump that is located on my right hand side clavicle. I went to the doctor's today and they prescribed antibiotics. They said if it doesn't go away in 7 day, to go back. They did x-rays and drew blood. There was no infections shown in my blood results. The x-ray and blood test shows it wasn't a lymph node. I am getting an ultrasound in the 7 days that I'll be returning.
