I just noticed mine today. I have had more pain than usual in my right upper body and today I found this lump as you described. If it is arthritis I guess nothing can be done. But I am in constant pain

Thank you Lisa .. you made me feel better for sure!!

What did you find out? I'm 64 year old female with the same thing.

I have the exact same thing! My doctor said she thought it was arthritis as well!!! Wow...I'm blown away. So, now that you have never heard of that, you can know, you're not the only one

I would have thought that the biopsy would have been definitive to rule out cancer. Personally, I would be hesitant to undergo such an invasive procedure for a lump that is benign. Surgery certainly is not without risks. I have recently discovered such a lump and am not too excited about it. Oh will have my doc look at but with all my arthritis/fibromyalgia, I feel it's likely r/t to my medical issues. Not everything can be explained.

I have noticed last week that my clavicle bone increased on the right side. It has no pain, no illness, fully fit. Can you tell me what I have to do now to stop its growth?

Everyone has 2 lumps one on both sides. It's part of your normal bone. If it's not one of the two that are visible in the center if your chest get it biopsied.. I have had 2 x rays abd an MRI and all they say is there is no abnormalities. Bullsh*t. I can feel it and see it and so can everyone else

I have the same thing...hard lump on clavicle near sternum. Xray and ultrasound found nothing however my doctors can physically see it as my skin is puffed out and they can feel it. Going to ortho next week as they aren't sure where to send me. Not sure why they couldn't see it on X-ray or ultrasound?

Hello, Poppy1.

A hard lump on the clavicle near the sternum can be caused by several different things, including an enlarged lymph node, or an infection. Other potential causes include a cyst, lipoma, or liposarcoma.

It is possible that an X-ray and ultrasound did not reveal anything because the lump is too small or too deep to be seen.

is this lump painful?

Thanks for your reply. No, not painful unless the doctor pushes on it with significant pressure...then very tender. Going to the ortho Monday. I was thinking I should go to an ENT but...?

Hi, again. Yes, it is important to have this lump checked out by a medical professional. It could be nothing serious, but it is best to have it checked out to be sure. An ENT doctor is an appropriate choice for this type of lump.

The absence of pain is a very good sign, so I think your lump is nothing serious. Let us also know what the ortho said.

Wasn't impressed with my visit. The "exam" lasted five minutes. He walked in saying "I have to see this clavicle thing"...like he was perplexed. I showed him and he automatically knew what it was...no need for an MRI, etc. He said:

Arthritis of right sternoclavicular joint
Abnormal growth of clavicle

Our medical expert sent me this:

Arthritis of the right sternoclavicular joint is a type of inflammatory arthritis that affects the joint connecting the sternum (breastbone) and collarbone.

Symptoms of this condition include pain, swelling, and stiffness in the joint. In some cases, arthritis of the right sternoclavicular joint can cause limited range of motion and difficulty with everyday activities.

Treatment for this condition typically involves rest, medications, physical therapy, and lifestyle modifications.

I presume your doctor said the same?
