My girlfriend noticed a large (2 cm), hard, non-moveable lump on her neck, just above the collarbone. It was painful, she had headaches, felt bad for a week, he neck and back hurt, and she had trouble swallowing. Her son had massaged her neck and shoulders the day before, so I don't know if he had stired up something.
She had breast cancer three years ago, and went for a follow-upexam last fall. No problems.
We went to the doctor on Monday and he said it was probably cancer. Then he said there was a chance it wasn't. That was a shock. His reversal, and a such a quick diagnosis without an diagnostic equipment.
She had a CAT scan yesterday, and he doctor ordered blood work and a PET scan today. He also said that it could be cancer, but maybe not.
Anyway, we looked at pictures of her from a month aqo - no lump then! Either she had it and we couldn't see it, of it grew to golf ball size in less than a month. I don't think cancer grows that quickly.
Today, except for the lump, all of he symptoms are almost gone. She can now swallow without pain. To me, that's a good sign. But she's worried because cancer there isn't supposed to be painful. Also, as I mentioned, her son may have caused some pain by massaging there, and then pain just went away on its own. Maybe if he hadn't done that there wouldn't have been the symptoms that caused her to notice her neck.
So much confusion. I'm really worried. Even with the tests, all of this takes a long time.
