Hi I had a total thyroidectomy last Wednesday. All went well. However, 4 days later I still have a very stiff and sore neck. Is this a common side affect and did anyone else have this problem?

I had the same surgery a year ago. I do recall a bit of a stiff neck, but not for long. Could you be a little hesitant (unconsciously) about really moving your neck. Are you in a cold climate or a cold environment (home). Have you tried the typical remedies like a heating pad, etc. What does your surgeon think. I wouldn't let this continue too long without answers. Ask questions of the professionals and be sure to get real answers that work. Let us know.
