I am 54 years old and haven't had a period for six months, I have now had it for 12 days , I think it is over then it starts back up heavier then before. The clots are large and I have to change sanitary napkins (3 at a time) every hour, the clots are so bad. I am feeling very weak and tired. I called my doctor and he suggest that I contact a GYN,which I haven't been to in 14 years. Is there anything I can take to slow the bleeding down? I have been have periods on in off about every 6 to 8 months.I started getting my period when I was 10, and I have had 3 natural child biirths, I am obese and have many medical issues
1st of all it sounds like you need iron tablets as you could be aneamic wich can be serious if left untreated. also there is a tablet that you can take called norethisterone 5mg 3 times a day you take it for ten days but u will most likeky ave another period a few days after you stop taking it but it shouldnt be heavy again. you can only get this on prescription. and if that doesnt work then u may need a scan to rule out pcos aor ovarian cancer. please see your doc or gyn just to make sure it nothing serious. x
