I am hearing my heartbeat in my ears while I am trying to sleep and it is driving me crazy.  I am so sleepy i don't know know what to do.  I felt like I was going crazy and my doctor seems to think that i am making this up.  I need some help.  I have a sound machine that doesn't work and I have a fan also that I keep running all night.  I have tried every position that I can possibly think of with my pillows.  I feel like i am going to die!!  Where should i go to get this worked on...ENT, Medical Doctor, Neurologist?  Please help, I am getting sooooo frustrated I am taking this out on other people!

You all need to see a doctor and take your health seriously. I'm 23. I have had a whoosing heartbeat sound for about 7 months or more. I also have a feeling of fullness in my ears when I bend over or turn my head a certain way. I went to the ENT about a month ago and he told me it was probably nothing serious, but he ordered a blood test to check for anemia and a CT scan. Being me, I delayed getting these for a long time. About a week ago I got the CT scan and the results show that I may have a one-inch mass (possible tumor) in my head that is possibly causing my pulsatile tinnitus (the whooshing sound). So now I'm scheduled to have an MRI in like 3 days so that the doctors can better identify what it is. I also had my blood test today but I don't have the results for it yet. This is stressful to say the least. I encourage you all to NOT take your time when it comes to your health. See a doctor! I will try to update here if I make it through my MRI.

Hi, me again (username ThisPerrson) with an update. I went ahead and had my MRI on the 27th and the results confirmed that I have a one-inch tumor. They think it is benign noncancerous meningioma. I have not met with the neurologist yet (schedule in around 15 days) so I am not sure what the plan of action is. Please see a doctor.

I have a swishing heartbeat sound in my ears when lying down. I sometimes wake up hearing someone hammering something loudly ,as in carpentry, only to realize that no one was hammering at all. Do I need to worry?

I have this as well. My doctor stated that it the blood flow you're hearing through your ear tunnel. It's nothing to be seriously alarm about! He also said that when it happens you can take a few deep breaths and it will calm you while sometimes completely deafening the sound. Try to avoid Especially arguing and being in situations where you more then likely to get upset. Trust me, it works!

I have to say that your doctor is correct in saying it is the blood flow running through your ear that you are hearing, but at the same time the doctor is incorrect in saying that a few deep breaths will calm you and alleviate the situation. What the doctors don't know in properly informing clients on their condition is that the problem is caused from a vitamin deficiency. I have suffered from this same problem for a very long time and have gone to the doctor and have used ear drops and everything else they recommended or prescribed and nothing worked. I told myself I may have to live with this for the rest of my life until I discovered Dr. Joel Wallach and have watched many of his programs on YouTube about Dead Doctors Don't Lie. Please check it out for yourselves. I started using his vitamins name Youngevity and ever since my eardrum just repaired itself because it got the the proper nutrients, vitamins and minerals. The vitamins will help in all conditions you and your families are going through. Believe me when I tell you that this Doctor is one of the best who believe in helping people and not just taking their money.

How do you know this? Carotid artery? Why would it happen when I am under stress or working around loud noises.

When you say you got up quickly and you experienced the beating sound again, that is probably due to orthostatic hypotension which I have really bad where your arteries are really elasticy so when you stand up after prolonged sitting, all your blood pools in your legs and not enough blood and oxygen reaches your brain which causes dissiness, tunnel vision and your heartbeat to become faster and more noticeable. It goes away after a few seconds once the blood reaches your brain again.
