When I was 12 years old I started my period. When I was 13 years old my period lasted for a month and was very heavy so I told my mom and she took me to the gynecologist. The gynecologist just responded with no big deal and put me on birth control. Through out my teen years my period continued to be very irregular and sometimes I would go a whole summer with out my period. I would continue to ask my doctors about my irregular periods over the years and they would respond with" its no big deal your still young" or "We will worry about it when you try to conceive". When I was around 22 I started bleeding heavily after intercourse with my boyfriend(now my husband). It was incredibly embarrassing and still continues to happen occasionally. Long story short. About 2 years ago my periods started lasting for months at a time. I passed huge clots and it caused me to be anemic. This has been going on till now. Finally in October of 2011 I was finally diagnosed with Poly cystic Ovary syndrome by the the director of my local planned parenthood. It felt great to know finally what may be causing my issue. Its crazy that after years of going to the gynecologist no one was able to give me an answer but planned parenthood did. My period just recently ended today after bleeding for 2 months straight very heavy.  Next week I am going to get a hysterscopy and dilation and curettage.Hopefully this cures my on going bleeding problem. My doctor said this should cure my problem. And now at 27 years old my husband and I can hopefully begin to try for children. My doctors are suggesting I go on metaformin and clomid. My problem with vaginally bleeding has caused me depression but at least I now know what the problem is now.Bleeding heavily has really made me feel like less of a women because I can't even be intimate with my husband because of the bleeding. I am lucky to have a loving and supportive husband but this journey has been a very difficult one. There really isn't much information about abnormal bleeding on the internet and women really don't talk about it because its frankly embarrassing. It basically took 13 years to finally find out the problem. So women don't stop trying to find out whats going and always get 2nd and 3rd opinion because your health is important. Bleeding between periods isn't normal and a doctor who says it isn't a big deal is a terrible doctor. Good luck and if you have an questions feel free to post them and I will try to look back and respond.

watch out because with having HPV having kids can be risky because when they are about 1 yrs. of age they can have the paplomas in their throat and need surgery for a few years until they get it all or it quits growing my son had a severe case but lucky us the dr. let us try DIM an experimental med. whcih help his stop growing my sister is a dr of the ears nose and throat and scoped him at a year old cause he had a snoring sound in his throat called striders he had surgery when he was 1 until he was 3 yrs. old he had a hard time talking he souned hoarse but by the grace of god he is great now but it can come back when they hit puburity. my other kids are fine because I was no longer with my cheating husband who gave it to me so I was never reinfected so my body finally rid it's self of the HPV. I wish you luck but if you do have kids at a year old get their throat scoped and checkups often because it is deadly in that form because ut turns into cancer. Good Luck!!

Hey ladies. I'm 22 years old and I've been bleeding for 4 long months now. Heavy flow and abnormally large blood clots. Now I'm constantly in pain now. I just went to the doctor last week and she doesn't now what to do. Birth Control isn't working... Just made it worse. I'm scared cause I'm getting weaker everyday and losing energy quick with what what energy I do have. My doctor told me I might need a hysterectomy if the D&C doesn't work. She doesn't really want too cause I'm too young and have no kids but its up too me if it does happen. What could it be? What do I do?

I've been bleeding for a month and been to the hospital and got checked and nothing. I've been told that i have a hormonal imbalance too. The way im clotting is crazy. My chiropractor is working with me to regulate my period. She actually did an excercise where i lay on my back and she spreads my legs and tells me to try to open to my legs while she hold my legs closed. I'm still kinda confused 0_o but im still doing research to find out more because this is miserable. It's like i have no  life anymore, im weak and so drained and major headaches :(........

Hi all
I have had regular periods until I had my daughter by emergency C Section in 2008. Since then they have been sporadic - probably one period every 3 months that lasts for about two weeks with very thick long clots. I am over it.  I don't want to see my doctor because last time I went she said there isn't really anything they can do. The cramping is pretty unbearable at times. i live in New Zealand.

I am 14 and am having really heavy period since started. I put in a regular size tampon, and about an hour later I got up from my seat at a restaurant anddiscovered that it had leaked a lot. There was blood abiut 3 inches down my but cheeks through my jeans. Also, when I took the tampon out there was a large blood clot on it. I don't think this is as bad as any iof your stories, but it's pretty scary. Anyadvice? My mom says if it continues she is calling the doctor. Also, I can't use birth control because Ip it is against my religion and my uncle is a priest.

Thanks

My daughter is only 10 years old and is experiencing the same thing. They gave her Ibuprofen to slow the bleeding and now she is taking Lysteda (which is what they use to treat trauma victims to stop their bleeding). It has helped slow it down but has not gotten rid of it. She is anemic and has been on a high dose of iron for months. She has no energy and is miserable all the time. She is adopted and we have no medical information other than she was a premie at 2lbs. and was in the hospital for 2 months. They have done ultrasounds and tests for bleeding factors but everything comes out normal. We see the doctor again tomorrow. I think she is too young for birth control and the doctor does too. Let me know if any of you can help.

Sweetie, You shouldn;t be having these problems at your age. I see that you posted three years ago. Did you ever find a cause for the bleeding? Are you okay now? Please come back and let us know how you are. xx

Make sure the doctor testsher for thyroid problems and insulin resistance. There could be any number of reasons for her heavy periods. How is she doing now? xx
