Hello everyone, I know this is a long post but need some feedback. Before opting for the ablation I had in Sept I was having terribly heavy bleeding and abdominal pain. I also had laporscopy at the same time. The good news is there was not much pain with the recovery. The bad news is I thought that was it. That my troubles were over. I woke up from surgery to my doctor tellling me I am going to need a hysterectomy now. The adhesions were so bad that my uterus was completely attatched to my abdominal wall where you couldn't see where one started and the other ended. As well as adhesions to my bladder. My uterus is the size of someone 14 weeks pregnant, it's higher than it should be above the pubic bone and the cervix is tilted backward. And then there is my right ovary that huge and now enbedded in my bowel UNDERneath my uterus! Not next to it, but where my uterus should be. Anyway, I am devistated to say the least. I thought the ablation was going to solve all my problems. And it hasn't. I thought I'd never have a period again. Now it is about as heavy as a normal period, but lasts for 10 days! So, just don't have too high expectations for this procedure because you never know. I though I'd never have a period again and I'd go on with my life blissfully. Hopefully others of you WILL have that result. Just don't be too surprised if it doesn't solve all your problems is all.

Now I face a major surgery in Jan. Removal of the uterus, cervix and one ovary. And they have to cut me because of the adhesions. I have so many fears. The recovery, sex, mood changes, HELP! I'm only 29! I don't want to go through the rest of my life having less intense orgasms! I'm just getting to my peak right? And will I experiance mood changes with only one being removed? They say no but my mom sure did! Then had to have the other removed 2 years later.

I am also considering having abdominoplasty at the same time. Has anyone done this? I was going to have this done anyway before I found out I was going to have a hysterectomy. Figure why have 2 surgeries. If I'm going to be under already and cut already... Anyone combine the two?

Please let me know if you had them both done. I am scheduled to have both on May 16. I would love to have and advice that you might have regarding this.

My wife just had this surgery two weeks ago... she is 39... her GYN suggested it as she had a prolapsed uterus and it had to come out... Her Hyst was partial and she had it Vaginally... She has always wanted to get rid of the "skin" that would not go away... Her GYN recommended a surgeon she had both at the same time... and is recovering as expected... My suggestion to you is if you are going to have A tummy Tuck do it with the Hysterectomy... The recovery time will be lumped together... There were some benefits with insurance this way as she got her stays in the Hospital paid for and we got the hospital to reduce the operating room cost by a thousand dollars as it was considered a second procedure... My wife is still recooping but over all she is glad she did it...
