my daughter wo is 12 have been getting tjhese on her nose for the first time last year, it all started with a cold and withnher constantly blowing her nose. Now that she is in middle school, she is more embarrassed to have her nose swell and scab. What i did was once i knew she was sick and blowing her nose, wanted to be pro active and start caring for it before it broke out. after she blowns her nose i made sure she applied abreva around her nostrils. We went back and forth with abreva and neosporin. It worked....to a point. just when she thoughtshe was done, just a little sore popped up, not as bad as before. If she would have continued to apply the abreva, I am sure she would have been breakout free. So try and medicate before it breaks out.

I have just got one of these blister things inside my nostril and it is incredibly painful. I had a sinus infection and I'm still taking the antibiotics I was given to clear up the infection. Will this effect the blisters inside my nose? Make them last longer? Make them get bigger? or help them disappear? Also, is using Lucas' Papaw ointment or zovirax going to help get rid of them? It's my birthday this week and I really want them gone, because it's super uncomfortable!

I have a great treatment that works for me!!! I have also have had this on and off for 30 yrs and feel sorry for anyone who has this, especially young teens for which it is extremely embarrassing and seems to take forever to go away. My 11 yr old daughter has just started to get this and I would do anything for her not have to go through this condition. I have never had a swab done but with the other replies it sounds like Staph infection is the best guess. I have investigated this online and Impetego is just a form of Staph or Strep bacterial infection. This is why Abreva has never worked for me which is for viral control. I have tried everything I can find and found a Cortizone based cream kept if from getting extremely bad. I now have found the best thing by far, yet, to use to keep it from getting out of control and help prevent the swelling then scabbing over stage we all dread because of how it looks and spreads. I tried some prescription ear drops that someone had for ear problems. They are antibacterial, anti inflammatory and antifungal. They keep it just at the beginning stage for the 2 weeks or so that it can take to go away and have not had it get out of control since. I will give the name of the drops and the ingredients as well. It is called Locacorten Vioform and now that I look at it online, it comes in drops which I use and cream which may be better. It contains 2 active ingredients: Flumethasone (a corticosteroid type anti inflammatory) and Clioquinol (an anti infective agent for Bacteria and Fungi). The only side effect at all, which I don't mind, is that the skin around the area you use it on will begin to slightly peel only the outer layer of skin which happens anyway when the sore gets too inflammed and out of control. I just had to let anyone know how well this works for me because it can be terrible and reoccur so often and be horrible for any teens especially. I am also going to try using rubbing alcohol which does kill Staph bacteria to swab my nose area frequently to possibly prevent it all together. I did read that it takes a certain concentration of Staph bacteria to overcome the bodies defenses and cause an infection. Staph bacteria thrive in mucosal/moist areas such as the nose and then will be spread by blowing or wiping the nose infecting the outside especially if we have rubbed the outer skin raw or scratched the surface. Good luck with this medication. Hopefully something even better may be found by someone.

My six yr old just woke up with these this morning. Can she go to school with them or should I wait until they scab over?

I have suffered from these evil blisters since I was a little girl. Even been so bad I had to be put in the hospital for 3 days as I couldn't even get a straw between my lips!! As far as painful ones go, the nose is horrifying!! Zilactin is the only thing I have found once I get them. To remedy them "almost" for good is L-Lysine. My Doc told my mother about this when I was small and as long as I don't get lazy and not take them EVERYDAY I do really well.

I was mis-diagnosed with Impetigo for years and it turned out it was really cold sores all along! Impetigo is a bacterial infection that has the same look and symptoms as cold sores. I get cold sores on my lip, chin and nose! My lip swells up to 3x the size, I wouldn't leave the house when it was that bad. Its was miserable! Its amazing how many doctors were quick to say it was impetigo, I think because of location and size. I payed for so many antibiotics through the years and they never worked since herpes is a viral infection. I finally went to a dermatologist and instantly he looked and said 'its cold sores'. I started taking Acyclovir daily and finally it worked. I still get them, about 3 a year, but I have learned that taking Lysine daily and taking a few extra pills during a break out really helps keep it away and makes it soooooo much smaller if I get a break out! Also as soon as I feel a itch or tingle I ice it ALL day, as much as I can and usually it will not come at all and if one does develop its hardly there! Its amazing! I just got married in September and was so stressed about getting one so I took Acyclovir and lysine daily. The time around the wedding was so stressful and hectic that brought on a tingle the night before the wedding. I went crazy icing it and it was so small I didn't even feel uncomfortable getting my picture taken! Thank goodness. Lysine and ice, trust me.

Don't use vaseline. You want it to dry up and scab.If anything put bactracin around it so it dosn't spread.

Fever blisters ugh.Just had my worse one yet .Do to stress, cold, fever, low immune system.I get them in my nose. They say the first outbreak is the worse, nope.I guess from blowing my nose it went on both my nostrils and out a lil bit more. You feel the tingling coming on before the out break. Before they scab you are super contagious, even after they scab there is still a chance of spreading. There not much you can do but let time heal. You can put some bactracin around it so it won't spread. But don't keep it wet while it's blistering, you want it to dry and scab. After it scabbs i put some lysine on it.Take some viatimins, they make lysine supplements to.I went to the doctor this time cause the pain was really bad, they gave me amoxicllian.Which i didn't understand why. Just In case it turned bacterial.Your nose drips into your jaw cavity or something.well i went back for a follow up and she gave me mupricin cream for staph, impetigo. She thinks it looks infected which i thought it look like it should since the scabs just fell off and i have been pokin at it with a q tip and lysine. I'm skeptical on putting the cream since it said don't use near nose. I don't want to make it less reslince to bacteria.I try to stay as natural as can be.Oh and those cold sores and fever blisters you can turn them into genetil herpes if your not careful, no kissing and such.Wash your hands!!!

First of all impetigo is a staph infection of the skin and requires antibiotics, it is very infectious and can be spread easily. If this is coming back to the same spot over and over again its more likely a cold sore or fever blister. When your immune system is low from a cold, stress, flu, period, work. you might get a break out, the sun will cause it too. Take Tylenol for the pain, and use an antiviral or Abbreva which works only so so. These little blisters itch and hurt like hell, I use a tea bag and put it on the things and it tends to dry them up. They need drying. I would cover them if I am going out and no kissing or sharing towels cause it is a herpes virus. Good luck everyone.
