I've had this since I'm a young . I only get it when I'm forced to use anything other than Kleenex on my nose when it's running.

I tried Lotrimen which is usually for athletes foot. It was like a miracle. After 1 day, swelling goes and the sore goes away quickly.

IDK why this word so well, but it does. I hope this helps someone.

If it is a recurrent issue the best thing to do would be to see a Dr when you have an outbreak. Impetigo (bacterial) infection cab be one cause and needs a prescription cream to treat. If it is a herpes outbreak (viral infection) over the counter cold sore cream or prescription anti viral cream can dry blisters out & shorten the duration. Take L-Lysin supplement can help prevent outbreaks if taken daily. If this is recurrent issue for you you need to know what triggers are, if it's a cold & you get after blowing your nose, perhaps putting Neosporin (triple antibiotic cream) in each nostril before bed would help prevent blister & protect the mucosal lining in your nostrils. If you have to use makeup apply with something like a q-tip that you can throw away & don't contaminate your makeup with a brush or your fingers. Getting foundation & powder in a scab wont help it heal but I understand not wanting to be seen on stage with one.

I've had this for since high school I'm 31 now. I can tell when I'm gonna have an outbreak bc my eye starts to feel irritated like I have a piece of sand in it. I also have outbreaks on my cheek occasionally which look horrible and swollen as well as on my nostril. If caught soon enough and treated they go away within a day or two or not noticeable. THE BEST treatment is take a multivitamin, lysine, and also take grapefruit seed extract(GSE). I have the liquid form of GSE so I put 20 drops in a small amount of water and drink up to ten times thru out the day for the duration of the outbreak. Also apply "Releev" cold sore medicine 4-5 times for only the first day. After a a few days it will start to harden and want to scab over. Thats when you want to apply neosporin and keep the scab soft so it heals faster and falls off. Mine is typically gone in 3-4 days sometimes sooner if caught right away. Worst case scenarios have only lasted 7 days since I started using this method. I GURANTEE THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO TREAT THIS. Good luck.

I noticed at work on Saturday night that the edge of my nostril was hurting really bad. It felt like it was running, and the entire tip of my nose was swollen and turned bright red! The next morning, it looked like a few tiny blisters had popped, and the sore itself got bigger (so embarrassing!) Now, it is a little sore (3 days later), but it looks like a huge-ass scab, and it is gross looking! I wait tables and tend bar in a very busy restaurant, and don't want to gross people out, but I can't afford to miss work either! This is the 2nd year in a row that this has happened too me and in the very same spot. What causes this and how can I make it go away? I too just got over a horrible cold a couple of weeks ago, and have felt fine until this!!! Is there a "cover-up" I could buy to make it less noticeable? Help me out here ladies, lol!

While it could very well be herpes, mrsa, staph or some other virus... it could also be from your tissues! It took me months to figure out what was causing my nose sores - TISSUES WITH LOTION. I don't know what they are putting in those tissues with lotion, but they were causing my nose to break out inside every other day with crusty, cracky, weepy, hurty, open sores. As soon as I stopped using them, they cleared up.

I get the exact thing. I learn when I get worn down and am close to getting sick they develop. To prevent it i take a 500mg lysine pill daily and it works great! If i forget to take them for a while and I feel them coming on, I apply a lysine cold sore treatment on it. It has really worked for me!

I take Lysine tablets too. Prescription ointment of acyclovir and tablets. Mine get out of hand & start running as well.

I have something like everyone describes. It takes 2-3 weeks to run its course. And then comes back again. I went to a dermatologist who said it was adult acne. He prescribed an antibiotic for severe breakouts and a topical cream. I won't take the pills and the cream does nothing. I use rubbing alcohol and dial acne soap (salacyllic acid). Nothing works. I hate this.
