Hi there. This has been such an embarrassing and painful journey. I have told only 1 friend what is going on, so I feel quite alone and that is how I ended up here. At 38, I am active and pretty healthy. I travel quite a bit, and am on the go. But ever since I was a kid, I have had bleeding after my number 2's. I think I must have a tiny bumhole? I have suffered with bleeding, pain and razor blade number 2's for many years. Anyway, about 2 years ago, I had an external "skin tag" removed and while it was painful, I healed up ok. But my bumhole didn't look as pretty as I had hoped.
Well, in 2011, I managed to grow another quite large "skin tag" which the doctor removed about 10 days ago. The opening was rather large and the surgery (in office) was under 20 minutes. By the time I got home (I had to see) I looked at the wound and saw many stitches. After being in a drugged up haze for a 4 days, I noticed a sharp "poking" feeling occasionally when I walked. I took a look and saw that the stitches had come undone!! Literally, a 2-3 inch long string hanging from part of the wound, and it would poke me and get yanked--talk about PAIN! I called the doctor after office hours and spoke to the on-call doc, who told me this was "normal". I spoke with my doc a few days later and she agreed. I went in to great detail, and she was VERY patronizing, telling me I was OK.
But now, 10 days in I can literally see about a full inch of the wound COMPLETELY OPEN. The skin is NOT FUSED. I am doing sitz baths and cleaning the wound with hydrogen peroxide. It literally looks like an open mouth, 2 separated pieces of skin flapping in the wind. I am worried that it is going to get infected and even more scary: that I will have to more stitches and repeat this entire effing process! They keep telling me it is "ok" and I know it is not. I don't want to be one of those crazy patients that keeps calling the doctor, but what else can I do? Oh, and to make matters worse, I contracted the stomach flu and have had severe diarrhea and cramping for the last 3 days. And in one week I have to fly to Asia for work. I am terrified that I will have to get stitches again and start from scratch! EFFING NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!!!
Has this happened to anyone? I feel so alone and scared! Any advice would be welcome! Thanks....
