I had 7 treatments (all fairly painless, just some discomfort), and I was good for a while. Now that I've started with leg training I'm having some mild issues again. Still worth looking into big-time.

My hemroids started about 7 months ago...I was at the gym doing my usual rutein, which was walk in the gym, and just start the weights with out warming up, and at times, tryting to show off for the crowd VS just working out for me...so i use heavy weights, and over excerted myself at times. It has been 7 months...and finally after 4 injection shots, they went away...If your woundering if weight lifting causes hemroids let me make that clear for you..YES IT DOES!!! if your in the gym, lifting heavy weights, doing the workout the wrong way like i did...yes you will eventually get hurt.
I never even knew what hemoroids where until, this stuff happended to me..we all go through that "oh why me..i though i was super man faze" then you get over it like i did..and learn to work with it.
So here's what i did, a lot of heavy squats, which i will never do squats!! I've changed my mentality, i dont want to look like "THE HULK" anymore. All i want to do is low weights, hight reps, and more cardio...I do about 45 mints of cardio..then 30 miutes of light weights. By light i mean a weight that i can do atleast 3 sets of 20 reps.
My hemroids where fine up to few days ago where i started doing my low weigh high rep workout...THEN I GOT GREEDY and started heavy weights again...(trying to workout for the crowde again...) and today, 2 days later i feel somethings burning and again....I just had to know..so I checked my self and felt something there...is it as bad as before i dont think so but only time will tell...as my colon surgen told me..my hemroids will always be here..and i always have to watch out for them...they will come and go, and you just need to be carfull.
Based on my experience here's what's helped.
1. DIET: I changed my diet, added more fruits and vegitables, since i needed more fiber!! If your constipated, and your dont fix that, you will put pressure on your hemroids when trying to have a bowl movement and YOU WILL MAKE IT WORSE!!! You need to make your stool soft, by eating more vegi's and fruits, so it comes out of you without straining.
2. COFFEE as much as i lov coffe and i need it. I've learned that it causes discomfort, and upset stomach, and annoys the hemroids. So having 1 cup, with food or something so its not in your system on an empty stomach should be fine...but no more than that. You can also try Green tea, for the caffeen that works too...but cutting out coffee will help ALOT.
Coffee produces acids in your stomach, the acids, burn and irritate the hemroids, and thats what you feel.
3. VITAMINS: Taking vitamins be carful as well...never take anything on an empty stomach. When i got my hemroids first, 7 months a go..I after coming home from the gym, i had bleeding, i had blood coming out of my anus, like i was in a shower of blood.
Taking vitamins, irritated my stomach and make it worse!!! SO LOOK INTO THAT FIRST BEFORE taking suggestions on place a vitamin up there as some poeple wrote...(might be a crule joke)...
Think of it, Vitamins have coating on it, that your colon needs to burn off before it can take the nutrients in...The colon produces ACIDS!!!! to brake down that vitamin..and if you have an open scar or a wond in your anus, its like putting salt, on an open cut!!!
HOT SPICY FOODS:
I love hot wings!! but had to stop or limit those!! same thing too much will burn your hemroids on the way out. Same with alcohol, i only drink alcohol ON A FULL STOMACH and maybe 1 once a week, or longer, or as needed on a date...but other than that...you cant drink to much alcohol, or any for a while, depending on what stage of the healing process your at.
if you have hemroids now...and go to the gym your asking for it!!! YES WEIGHT LIFTING DOES CAUSE OR ABUSE HEMROIDS!!! I love the gym, and i cant stop for the life of me...its what brings me joy! So what im doing is more cardio, to lean down..since being over weight also puts pressure on the hemroids!! So im doing 45 minutes of cardio..which should be fine, and them 30 minutes or so of LIGHT weight lifting, again light for me is anyweight that i can do 3 sets of 20 reps..."Clean cut"
is the new gym goal i have, not looking like the HULK.
an herbalist recomended JARROWS OPC+95 GRAPE SEED. I got it from health store, it helped queit my stomach..but now that the bottle is done..i gotta call him back and see if i need more.
I will keep you guys posted, Please share your experiences.

Hi guys, thanks for posting your experiences it really helped me. I'm 27 and have had a poor diet, low in fiber, for as long as i remember...combined that with weightlifting which i really didnt read books about or learn how to do the right way!!! and kinda half assed it all my life, by doing, pulling muscles, healing, and doing it again. Eating more fiber helps prevent hemroids in directly..since, if you have more fiber, you dont strain, so you dont put pressure on your hemroids. Fiber is not a solution to hemroids, but its one of the factors and bother it.
My hemroids started about 7 months ago...I was at the gym doing my usual rutein, which was walk in the gym, and just start the weights with out warming up, and at times, tryting to show off for the crowd VS just working out for me...so i use heavy weights, and over excerted myself at times. You need to make your stool soft, by eating more vegi's and fruits, drinking more water, so your stool, comes out of your anus without straining...ITS ALL ABOUT CUTTING OUT THE STRAINING THAT PUTS PRESSURE ON YOUR ANUS, WHICH CAUSES THE HEMROIDS!!!
2. COFFEE as much as i lov coffe and like the boost it gives. I've learned that it causes discomfort, and upset stomach, and annoys the hemroids. So having 1 cup, only if must!!, with food or something so its not in your system on an empty stomach, atleast if you drink the coffe with eating some food..the coffee's harm is reduced since its buffered by the food, if you can cut out the coffee, YOU WILL BIG RESULTS, less heartburn, gass, and upset stomach, You can also try Green tea, for the caffeen that works too, with out the negative side effects of coffee...cutting out coffee will help ALOT.
Coffee produces acids in your stomach, the acids, burn and irritate the hemroids, and the lining of your colon, and thats what you feel. Imagine, hemroids as a cut on you arm or your skin, you wouldnt pure salt on it, or pepers, or anything that would make it STING!!..now take that same cut, and imagin that inside your colon, or rectum..you want to treat it with the same care.
ORANGE JUICE:
For me i have to stay away from orange juice as well...it causes major heart burn for me, and upset stomach...same idea..its too acidic for my stomach so i stay away from it.
3. VITAMINS: Taking vitamins be carful as well...never take anything on an empty stomach. When i got my hemroids first, 7 months a go..after coming home from the gym, i had bleeding, i had blood coming out of my anus, like i was in a shower of blood.
Taking vitamins, irritated my stomach and make it worse!!! If you see BLOOD, you have an OPEN CUT, inside, and the last thing you need is to irritate it with harsh things, or what ever that may cause your stomach to create more ACID!!!! to break it down. I could not take any Vitamins, until i was healed up, my stomach could not take it. I got gass, irritated, cramps...Once your healed up, you can try taking vitamins, but with lots of what, and not on an empty stomach!! BEFORE taking suggestions on place a vitamin up there as some poeple wrote...(might be a crule joke)...i would ask someone about that..i would not recomend it. I recently started taking vitamins again about 2 weeks ago...and im okay.. i take it with food, and drink lots of water through the day. But again, if you have bleeding going on, stay away from coffee, vitamins, spicy foods, NO CONSTIPATION MEDICATION!!!! AT ALL, or other harsh stuff until your healed.
Think of it, Vitamins have coating on it, that your lower intestine needs to break down before it can take the nutrients in, and enter it through your blood stream...The intestine produces ACIDS!!!! to brake down that vitamin..and if you have an open scar, a cut, (fissure or hemroids) or a wond in your anus, its like putting salt, on an open cut!!! Same thing with drinking alcohol...you can have a few drinks here and there...but only when your healed and there's no blood, and your drinking once in a wild..and your not drinking on an empty stomach, and just a few not too much.

I will keep you guys posted, Please share your experiences. I hope light weightlifting doesnt hurt me again...that would suck!! i lov the gym...but will keep you posted. Hopefully with positive results. OH, and make sure you streach at the gym something i didnt do!! you should streach when you come in, do cardio, streach AGAIN!!! SPECIALLY YOUR LEGS!! do your light weight lifting, STREACH AGAIN!! BEFORE LEAVING. if you feel tinggleing down your legs, involuntary muscle spasms...or tightness!!! STOP AND STREACH.

I wish I would of been better informed and proactive in dealing with it at the time. I can't emphasis it enough, do everything you can to treat a hemorrhoid as soon as you can. If I had to do it over, I would of taken months off any strenuous activity, increased the fiber in my diet and limit the amount of time sitting on the toilet. If you don't, it will only get worse and multiply over time.

When snow came I joined a gym and kept up my walking routine on a treadmill and started weight lifting too. I started with reasonable amounts of weights but found I could lift lots more ....easily doing 2sets of 12 reps for arms and 2 sets of 15 reps for my legs...I also increased my treadmill time to 120 minutes a day a couple times a week, but always at least 60 minutes a day if it was a lifting day.
I dropped another 15# and now weigh 190. I have also decreased my waist from 44 to 35....I should point out here that I am 56 years old. I was feeling great and strong and my life centered around my workouts.
Well 2 weeks ago I couldn't get out of bed because my right ankle wasn't working....a visit to an ortho doctor realed Osteochondrial Defect Talar and I was put in an air cast given crutches and heavy duty pain killers...Man those pain killers bound me up so badly I had to exert so much force it felt like I was trying to pass a pumpkin...I have had internal hems for a long time but without too much problem...
Not being able to go to the gym was making me crazy so after about 10 days I could walk with an ankle brace and the pain wasn't too bad so I returned to the gym . I stayed off the treadmill and stress inducing exercises that would affect my ankle and really started blasting my abs and doing heavy lifting for my chest and arms ....a few days later an external grape sized roid....boy am I bummed. I'm scheduled for a routine colonoscopy in 2 weeks and I hope the dr will be able to remove or tie off or laser the little suckers off my butt. I shall keep you posted...Sorry this post was so long and rambling....but I'm not used to writing...

I'm 32. This arrives at the height of a two month diet and exercise stint. I'm undoubtedly in the best shape of my life right now. I've devoted almost 2 hours a day to improving myself. I've become a cardiovascular monster and my muscularity is shockingly better. Now this... I don't know what I'm gonna do. The cardio gains seem like they'd be the harder to get back, so I think (after a couple days off) I'll have to continue that. The muscle gains though, may have to go. (This feels tragic.)
Someone please answer me this: Do upper body exercises (lat pull downs, bench presses, controlled rows, shoulder flies) with heavy weights have to stop? Does me standing upright with two heavy dumbells in my hands (alone) contribute to this problem...?
