When I get more nutrition from my food, I believe it also helps to lift my mood. I have used nutrient-tracking websites to see if I am getting ALL of my vitamins and minerals in a day. I also take a low-dose b-complex and some low-dose vitamin C (I split the tablets or open a capsule to pour out a small amount to take, so that one capsule will last me a week or more). Another supplement that is expensive but I believe worth the value is an algae oil that comes in a 250ml bottle to take a tsp each day. It is DHA which helps with inflammation. It comes in lemon flavored, rosemary flavored, or the plain one has an ocean/fish-like taste to it. Other companies make other flavors, too. I think keeping inflammation down also helps with the inflammation in our brains, to keep our minds healthier. I tried s-adenosylmethionine (SAMe) but it made me a bit anxious and paranoid after a while. I think the DHA helps me more. DHA algae oil also comes in pills, including some prenatal vitamins.
