I had my first outbreak a couple of years ago, it was very bad, very painful and too often. It stopped me from going to work and it was just too awkward of a situation to deal with. I decided to take acyclovir (antiviral) for 9 months and you really get used to it. The pill is meant to be really light, didn't affect me at all, and now I no longer have outbreaks. Obviously, if I am nervous and start feeling some symptoms I pop in a pill, but it does really feel like I never had this most annoying and painful hsv (genital herpes). Try it!!!

Keep affected area clean and dry. Use cornstarch every day after shower and before bedtime. Baby powder made with pure cornstarch will work just as good. Do not try to drain them BC it was scar and delay healing time. N will make then spread. Ask your Dr for a steriod based ointment to use during outbreaks BC it does speed up healing times. Sounds like basic jock itch to me if its just been on your thigh/leg. May rash or look like itchy dry skin

I split up with my boyfriend and when we got back together we had sex and the next morning I was throwing up sick and a rash with blisters showed up on my right leg. We split up again and got back together we had a sex again and the rash appeared again it went away. We haven't had sex in like a month but I preformed oral sex on him and the rash and blisters are back and it's hot to the touch. What is your opinion? Help freaking out!!!

Yes, actually... you CAN get HSV-2 on other parts of your body. I have HSV-2, and it's not on my genitals, and... in the 11 years since I've been diagnosed with it, the only outbreaks I have, occur on my mid thigh. I was tested for it, with a culture test from my doctor, and she confirmed that it's HSV-2.

I saw you said you never heard of anyone else having it on their back near the bra line, you have now : ( I actually have an outbreak there right now & it's bad! I get in the same place a few times a year & it's awful! I will also break out on my leg outside area near the hip, it sucks!

Everyone is different. I first wa s diagnosed 6vyears ago. When ilthe first rash came I took the pills and it made it to away. Then I kept taking them daily and within a few weeks I had another. I stopped taking the meds and went a. Entire year without a breakout. The meds make mine worse. Now I have one maybe two a year.
