I'm 31 and have suffered from chronic, hormone related urticaria for five years. This post is the most helpful thing I've read. I've been to all the doctors, have none of the answers, and struggle with reducing my frustration over a health issue that it idiopathic and FREAKING ANNOYING. Thanks for giving hope to me. I'm glad I'm not alone in this.

have your Dr. do a blood test for Alpha gal. It is an allergic reaction to meat and it can be deadly, ( you have a lot of the symptoms) Good luck and God bless.

Hi I'm 25 and just began breaking out in hives. I began breaking out in septemeber and got it once every month since then. Sept-Nov I got it a week before my period and I took benadryl and it helped and went away in an hour. It starts off with my palms being itchy and then the bumps form all over my body and I'm itchy and burning all over. I skipped the hives in December but I did not do anything different. Now it's January and I just got it again but I got it the day of my period this time and I took claritin this time but it didn't work until I took a second claritin 45min after and it finally went away in 2 hours. I am so confused and it is driving me crazy how can I get rid of this!!! I'm running around my house trying not to scratch or scream hoping the medication will kick in.

I'm in the same boat! I've been keepin a journal and gives show up right before my period! It all started after I had my baby and I've been dealing with it for two years now. I do believe that it's hormone related. After researching I realized that it might be related to the progesterone level in my body.

I've also been getting hives since the birth of my last baby. Always worse around my period. Extremely frustrating!! Must be hormone related, but nothing makes it go away. Lmk if you find a cure!!

I am 51 and I too have had all the symptoms for years including angioedema in my face which would cause some welts on my lips, eyes, and chin that was embarrassing at times. I would get those about a week before my period. Recently, my bloodwork came back showing abnormal TSH levels. Although I wasn't showing the typical hypothyroid symptoms, I decided to do an experiment since I didn't want to get on synthetic thyroid medication. I was reading that the top 3 triggers for thyroid are 1)gluten 2)dairy 3)soy. Since I eat a bit of soy, I decided to be strict for a month with only the top 2 and see if my levels would go down. I also started taking a supplement from my naturopath that you can also buy online. It is called BMR complex. After a week or two of being off these things, I noticed my arthritis in my hand was gone. I also noticed that I was not getting my hives as badly as I used to. Sometimes they would wake me up at night. I went back to redo my blood work and my levels were normal! A lot of my brain fog has gone away except during my period. If I do get hives now, it's so much more tolerable and minimal! For some reason, the combination of diet and BMR complex seems to work. Oh and one other thing I started taking which I think helps too it collagen supplements and I make gummy bear type gummies from gelatin for me and my daughter since I heard bone broth was good for arthritis so I ordered these from Amazon. These things have worked for me which I'm so thankful for. I know your struggles so I hope this can help anyone. Good luck and God bless!

I am 39 and have suffered from menstrual related hives since after my son was born 9years ago. Of course, I did the doctor routine with no luck. I was so glad to read this feed and know I am not alone! The thing that works for me is dead sea mud soap ( there are a lot of brands and i have used about 4 kinds. The best is Seacret...you can get at mall or online from a rep....sorry I am not one) and body butter....as long as I do this during the month...no hives before my period. This past month we moved and i was not using my soap..guess whose back....????? Yuck and pain and never again!! Our skin is our largest organ....so there is a reason so many women suffer from this occurrence and doctors don't know the cause...I am going to use the fish oil recommendation as well. And I hope people keep writing...yes steroids and antihistamines can help with the problem but its not great for your health long term plus it masks the issue....keep sharing please! Let' s find the reason together....enthusiastic scientist

This is so crazy. My Np dorstndiangosed me with scabies. Eek. Well my rash got worse after treating. One word that kept coming up was Urticaria and pregnancy related -I'm almost 44 and have had this happening all the time for about 8 mos and think I do see it happening just before my period starts and think I may have found my answer. Skin gets so painfully itchy on torso and mainly back of legs and my palms and feet at the moment. Then it goes away and comes back. I'm going to keep an eye on the timing. Also went and took my Krill oil. So tired of this. Doc thinks I'm crazy;(

Yes, the doctors do seen today think you are crazy and are completely clueless about this condition, there are studies on this and it's called APD, autoimmune progesterone dermatitis. Look it up, it's annoying!!!

I have the same thing and thought it was candida so doing cleanse after cleanse. 20 months of hives after miscarriage and melanoma at the same time. I have had ok hives for last 4 months with only a few bad "mean" hive days. on Xolair since Dec 2015. Just got the worse hives days before my period. was doing good on strict diet and actually lost 10 lbs of my steroid weight before this happened. Anyone really know what hormone is changing or causing this? Seriously are we all really suffering in vain on these BLOGS!!!

Hello ladies. I'm so blessed to have ran across this. I've been feeling so alone and stress out from this. Ive been going the same since 2005 on and off. But it comes for 2 and 3 years at a time. Everytime I've gotten pregnant it goes away. I've been seeing Doctors specialist and so on. No one can help. Daily im on Antihistamine and steroids. I've gained over a hundred pounds due to the steroids. I most definitely agree with everyone it has something to do with the hormone. And I've had so many different tests ran and everything comes out good and negative which is a good thing but somewhat bad I'm just frustrated and want to figure out what is going on with me and my body it is exhausting draining stressful and depressing it gets embarrassing at times as well. This is so helpful. I pray we all get better and this can soon be over for us. God is good and he'll give us all the strength we need to deal with this.
