My girlfriend has fear from cycling. That dates back to her childhood when she had an accident while riding a bike and broke her jaw. Now she won’t even try to ride a bike, not even with a helmet and all the equipment on. She’s also afraid every time I go cycling, because she thinks something bad can happen to me. How to help her overcome this fear?

That’s a normal fear after that accident she had. The problem is that she should have tried to overcome it immediately after the accident because that period is best for coping with such fears. That is what people do after the fall from a horse. They don’t wait till they develop a phobia or a strong resistance towards riding. But I think that what your girlfriend has can be easily overcome with a good therapist and with your support. She’s on the rational level aware that it’s not more dangerous than any of the activities people practice, but she has to fight her irrational fear which is deeply rooted. Good luck with it and don’t make too much pressure on her.
