Hello, guys. My brother fell of a horse and broke his hip. To be more precise, I think he has a femoral neck fracture. I would like to know how long it is necessary for this kind of fracture to heal. Hello. I am sorry to hear that. You should know that femoral neck fractures don’t heal that easily. There must be some longer period before it heals completely. My friend injured herself 5 months ago and she is still using crutches. Your brother must be patient. Her orthopedic say that ibuprofen and similar pain killers can even slow the bone recovery. Imagine that! So, if your brother is not in strong pain, don’t let him over exaggerate with these medications. I hope everything will be all right. Good luck!
Did your friend break her femoral neck? I broke mine in April of this year (2012). Had surgery which included a metal plate & screws & 19 staples in my thigh about 2 1/2 months ago. I was given a walker, am now walking on my own, but only very short distances & have very, very bad pain -- STILL!! My surgeon has cut my meds down to one 5 mg. oxycodone every 6 hours & it isn't helping at all. Feel like they're treating me like a junkie when I tell them it's not helping, but I am in SO much PAIN!!! Can someone tell me (rough idea) WHEN is it going to stop hurting SO MUCH?? Frustrated, discouraged, hurting like hell...
