I have been tapering off of Klonopin and have only recently started experiencing side effects. These started to take place after getting down to only .25 mg a day. I have been feeling nauseous nonstop and have had an increase in nervous tics. Also having some mild anxiety attacks. Some symptoms I experienced yesterday were quite odd. For instance, while typing on my iPhone, my arm and hands started to feel fatigued to the point of almost not being able to use them. Also had jaw pain when eating. Anyone else have these more bizarre side effects? Also, any knowledge of whether withdrawal can start at much lower dosages?

My psychiatrist has given me ropranalol which is used as a beta blocker.

It can however be used for anxiety related symptoms. Prior to that, I was

taking another beta blocker ( Atenolol ). So far so gr8. Just a bit of a

tingle. It wants to come back but I think Oct pain meds can help the

tingling sensation. I thank God so far because I came from 10 mgs

of valium 3 x a day-need it or not. And that was HORRIBLE. I am

almost convinced that the beta blocker I mentioned will help keep

one comfortable. I hope someone inqiures about this. How horrible

it is when you can't even think of something as normal as a trip/vacation

for fear you will run out of the benzos. I hopw this helps someone.

I am so sorry everyone of you are having terrible withdrawels from Klonopin but it is a relief to me because I thought I was going crazy, After twenty years of .05 twice a day plus Klnopin my new (PO) doctor, ha, told me he wasnt going to prescribe it anymore and I was taken off almost cold turkey, after 6 weeks of being in bed, so depresses I felt like dying, staying inside, I am at my wits end, Thank you for this site, I will stay involved more because I always put the guilt on me.

Progestone therapy works miracles, just completing a 14 month klonopin taper and am feeling wonderful. I did though cold turkey adi van and suffered something horrific for 2 months before starting the taper. Best of luck!

In order to have least amount of side affects stay away from calcium it makes them much worse. No Tylenol, garlic, antibiotics! Load up on protein! Eggs, peanut butter it will help!

thanks so much, wow never thought about Progesterone Cream, this doctor probably wont give me anything like that, I have no faith in this doctor and I am in the process of finding another medical professional and a Shrink to help with meds, I feel I did so well on Klonopin and I told the new doctor that but he still said NO, I think if's something is not broken why fix it, Klonopin is a very good medicine when used properly and If I can be put back on I will.

I have been on klonopin for 4 years now. Started out 0.5 mg. x 3 daily. Got down to twice a day for a long time. In the past few months, I am weaning 1/8 mg very slowly like a month or two til I feel OK. I am now down to 1/4 mg in am and 5/8 mg in pm every four out of five nights, then take the whole 0.5 mg pill, etc. I did OK doing the three nights in a row but now I am light-headed and feel like I'm going to pass out sometimes. Almost fainted in grocery store last week but also have been sick. Don't have much energy either. Did you have that and how long does it last? I'm kind of afraid to drive like this. Do you have any suggestions that can help? I also thank God that He is getting me through this. It has been a nightmare. Would appreciate your reply. Good luck to you as well and God Bless us all.

I have been using natural progesterone cream for about 3 years. It helped to make me sleep and got me off Remeron. I tried the compound pills but that was awful (made me really more nervous). What kind of progesterone do you use and how much? I had a lady who told me it helped her get off Klonopin too. Some anxiety issues are caused by hormonal problems and it is possible that is what started mine. They don't know. Would love to hear from you.

I have been taking Klonopin for 23 years now. And decided to stop. How long does the withdrawal symptoms last?

thank you for your reply . . . I have been going through withdrawls after stopping Klonopin in February after being on it for over ten years for anxiety, and the way my body is changing would be scaring me to death if I was not aware of what is going on. Every day and every week is different but I can say I would never go back on this medication or anything like it. Anyone who wants to come off this stuff but you think it's impossible, it isn't. It's a hellish roller coaster, but my days are so much better now and I have my life back, I wouldn't trade that for anything, you can do it. Expect the unexpected is my advice.
