Hi. Had my op on the wednesday & felt the cauterising, hell yes. Nearly hit the ceiling! First 3 days were fine. No pain or swelling. I thought "great, that was a doddle!" But day 4, oh my god, my balls throbbed like hell & really severe pain in my lower abdomen. Its now day 6 and my balls are ok again but the pain is still very real in my lower abdomen. It really hurts to walk. Hopefully the pain will subside but its good to read that pain after a week is quite usual. The people who went back to work after a few days are very lucky!
I was told no baths for two weeks. Showers are ok beginning the second day.
As of this reply, I had this procedure done 13 days ago. I have had very little pain....some in my left nut but a little, not so much in my right side. procedure took about 20 mins. My doc told me to wear a jock strap the first 5 days and it help tremendously! I iced it the first 2 days off/on for about 20-30 mins at a time. I have not had any brusing at all but I did have some swelling. I did have sex, slow long strokes 2 days after, I just could not resist myself from my wife...what can I say ;-) then had sex again 4 days later. My incision area is healing slowly but should be good in a few days to one more week. I tried to work out in the form of doing some HITT in my home, but I didn't have on a jock and my testicles bumping up and down while doing jumping jacks was killing me though. I had to sit down and stop. So I just shut it down for another week. I have not needed to take any meds either except after the procedure for the first 8-12 hours afterwards. This weekend will be 2 full weeks and I'm feeling much better so will give it ago with a workout attempt in 2 days. I'd do it again if I had to. My wife bought me a cake and can't wait to get more lov'in for making this decision. :-) I hope this helps someone else in making the decision to have it done.
Had mine done yesterday. It ached a little, iced it the rest of the evening and took some pain meds. Woke up this morning and honestly I feel totally normal. I even carried my 2 year old daughter, running with her to catch up with her brother while they were trick or treating. My doc told my no working out for a week but I'm thinking I can hit the gym tomorrow.
To anyone who is reading these posts, in considering whether they should do it.... Please realize most of these guys are pussies or hypochondriacs or something. Listen to your doctor. Go to a doctor you trust. The procedure is uncomfortable but you'll be fine afterwords.
I had my vasectomy done on a Friday morning. Today is day 5. The surgery and post surgery were fairly painless. The doctor had said to wait 7 days until resuming sexual activities with my wife but I couldn't make it. Broke down last night at the 4.5 day marker. My advice: Don't do that for God's sake. It felt like a mule had kicked me in the balls 10 seconds after ejaculation. Pain radiated into my lower abdomen and lasted for 5 hours. I wish that I had been able to read a post like this prior to making that boneheaded decision. I can only hope that I didn't wreck the progress that had been made and that time will heal. If sex will be like this for any foreseeable time, there's no point. Worst pain of my life. If anyone can help out and let me know what to expect from here moving forward that would be great.
I'm 7 days post op. Whoever found this procedure easy is very lucky, it appears everyone has a different experience. My brother concurs with mine. I am sure this procedure started without any freezing. At one point, I had to tell the urologist "buddy, you need to F'n figure this out, I can't take this". Even felt like I was about to piss myself on the table. At that point, he called for freezing, which I felt the needle but wasn't too bad. After that, it was still extremely painful but tolerable. Right side was almost as bad but they put lots of freezing there.
I'm now exactly one week, I came on here looking for similar stories because I am still sore. I lift weights religiously, play hockey three times a week and do Muay Thai three times a week. I am very active so all this sitting is driving me nuts, but on the other hand there is no way I fell even remotely close to returning to anything.
It's not that I'm in pain, just a dull ache like I was kicked hard in the balls 15 minutes ago. It's just hard for me to rest - I've had to take up tv watching. Anyway, it will be at least another week before I feel up to a workout.
ah what the heck. I'll contribute. A good thread going. I'm day 6. Really no pain. Slight discomfort/pressure in my left testicle. No pain. Feels like I have a third testicle growing. I think it's a sperm granuloma. Hope not. I've read that this is a poor/incompetenet doctor. Not sure if that's true or not.
I think my doc did a great job. There's no pain. Just some discomfort, swelling, and a 3rd testicle. Not too concerned. I just think it's the bodies way of "healing" itself. At least attemtping to. I did walk more than I should have. So, now, Im not doing NOTHING for the next week. Recovery isn't a simple 2-3 days and you're fine. THAT IS BS. You need at least one week off if you work in the office. If you lift heavy object you will need 2-3 weeks off.
It's kind of tricky because you feel perfectly fine. You want to get up and move around. Then, you're reminded. So, just take it easy. That's what I am going to do. I will give an update as things progress. I will identify myself as 222 from here on out.
All in all, I feel great. I am going to call the urologist tomorrow. I'm not worried about it. At first I was OCD. I mean the slightest pain would have me thinking "Oh sh~t. that's not normal. Then, I saw pictures of people who had a vasectomy that didn't go normal. HOLY c**p is all i can say. It looked like gain green was eating their junk away with a little bit of mold to cap it off.
That's when I knew I was fine. My urologist did a good job. There's also a lot of risks associated with the v-sect that I didn't realize until AFTER of course. I hate that, but would I do it again? Absolutely. No pain at this point, and the rewards in the end will outweigh the cons.
"Men" like you make me sick. Why should women be 100% responsible for birth control just because you're a giant p***y?
the recovery has been odd. my scrotum and testicles have not experienced much pain at all. a little bit of the feeling when you kid glances you in the balls with a foot or something, and it feels like your underwear is too tight. the surprising part for me is the swelling in my pubic area just above my penis, both to the left and right side, mainly. i have discomfort when i get up and down, or lean forward at my desk. kind of feels like my belt is on too tight. my dr. said it is not 'normal' to swell in the pubic region, but i have not gone back for a follow up appt. i'm taking ibuprofen to hopefully reduce the swelling. th4 swelling is not tremendous, nor horribly painful, just uncomfortable.
perhaps the worst part of all is the no sex for a week :) my wife has never looked so good haha
go for it, guys. it's not healthy for your wife to stay on the pill long term.
grow some balls you baby
My surgery was done on Friday last week. I only felt mild pain on the right side but none on left side during surgery. Kept my feet off the floor for three days and ice my tests as much as I could. The first three days, I needed painkillers to be able to sleep. On the fourth day, I went to back to the office doing table work. I still felt moderate pain. On the fifth day, I was 70% better. That night, I had VERY gentle and brief sex with my wife. On the sixth day, some bruise showed up on the sack and two lumps about the size of almond were found above the tests. I was not sure if this had something to with the sexual activity. On the seventh day, I am 80% better. During follow-up, my doc said lumps are normal blood clots. No need to worry.
In next three days, I should be 100% recovered. I would say it takes me 10 days to recover.
