Don't listen to this person above, clearly she's never been at a loss of health insurance and hit rock bottom, I know for a fact the films work because I ate some from 2014 and it's 2016 now and they worked just as good as they would normally, only difference is they taste a little more grosser than usual probably due to sitting in the package for so long. So don't eat water or sugar pills, eat your old subs! Good luck, and trust me my dude! I'm a sub pro! Good luck! Dr. Ro

Thanks man... I've got about a gram left, and am going to use it tomorrow... Save a tiny bit for Saturday morning, then jump back on the Suboxone on Sunday morning... God I hope I can! Your words have given me the motivation.
Thanks again

There's some misinformation here. Depending on the situation, it may be smarter to go see a doctor, but not because the medication is newer. Just be careful with those doctors. They want to keep you on Suboxone for the rest of your life. They don't want you to taper. Then they lose a good customer. I always considered by Suboxone doctor to be government sanctioned drug dealer, anyway.

Either way, Suboxone tablets will last at least four years. I know because I was using film and got fed up with my doctor. Luckily I had a stock of four year old tablets that I started using instead of the film and I felt no difference. I've been using them for months now. I'm down to 1.5 mg. I decrease my dose by about 0.024 mg per day.

This method I came up with for tapering is working amazingly well. If anyone is curious, I'm happy to explain it. It's the only way I know how to get off Suboxone without experiencing a lot of heavy withdrawal.

What if your Suboxone is only a few months old past due datew

It absolutely will NOT work!!! The reason? You don't want to get CLEAN! I HOPE you suffer immensely. Why? Maybe when you really are ready, You will never pick up again! I've been where you are 100 times. Now I'm clean 9+ years.I wish you a lot of pain, misery, and HARD work! I really hope this reply gets under your skin!

Ha the self righteous as****e that has 9 years clean wishes pain and misery to another addict. Using is pain and misery and some people can't figure out how to let their problems go that easy. If you are 9 years clean and on a suboxen forum I highly doubt you are truly clean.

Manufacturer of Suboxone has to comply with FDA standards, so as with any other medicine they HAVE to place an expiration date. Does that mean the medicine will not work if its years old? No it will, as someone said before it might dissolve faster and taste disgusting. But the point is buprenorphine (active ingredient that takes away withdrawals) is still buprenorphine. Just as if heroin was very old it will still work. Now it might take longer to kick in, it might taste gross, it might dissenigrate once it goes under your tongue but it stills will work. Its not food we are talking about, its a drug.

Now to the commenter that just found old sub strips in their closet I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE USING SUBOXONE IF YOU ARE NOT PRESCRIBED. When normal people take 8 mg of Subs, you are at very high risk to over dose. 8MG are for daily heroin users. Its not a party drug this medicine is supposed to save lives, please do not abuse it its HIGHLY addictive.

I agree I recently ran out and I got 3 Suboxone strips from my friend that were expired by a month and they worked fine for me I don't think it really makes a difference one or two days or a month is not going to change the effects of the medication in my opinion but I'm not a medical professional that's just my opinion
