how soon do you lose weight after going of depo provera?

I'm so beyond pissed. I got my first shot in February 2015, had Lipo in March, and got my last shot in May. Since then I've gained 36lbs!! I ballooned from a confident 214lbs size 13/14, DD cup to an insecure 250lb, haven't wore jeans in months, F/GG cup!! Yes all of that in just a few months. I don't know what to do. Phentermine, diet, exercise, excessive water... Nothing seems to help get this weight off. In fact, the scale just seems to keep going up. I'm getting so discouraged and damn near depressed watching myself just keep spreading. I'm not sure if having lipo while one the shot has contributed to the excessive gain or not. It's too the point where I'm considering a medical weight loss procedure like gastric bypass to stop the weight gain. The way things are going, I'm not sure if that will even help

I also hope this is true. I got my first shot in march I believe of this year and then 2nd on in May. July rolled around and I told my dr I didn't want to take it anymore cause I had gained so much weight and my periods never stopped. Well a week after the shot I stopped bleeding, Its Oct. And still no period and its like the weight just never stops coming. I also suffer from Hypothyroidism but I am on medication for It as of last month. I have also heard that the weight falls off after u start again, but really wondering if I am ever going to get my period BACK! !! HELP!!!! DID U EVER GET URS BACK?

I was 120 on the depo for two years and didn't gain weight till the end of the two years 158... & now I can't loose it I've only been off of it for two months

I started loosing my weight a month and half after stopping depo. My Dr put me on adipex to speed up my metabolism and it helped.

Hi, I was on the depo shot since I was 14, I'm now 21. For the first 3 years, I didn't gain any weight, but I was also very highly active in sports. Once I stopped playing sports, even though I continued to exercise, I started gaining weight like crazy. When I first stopped playing sports I was 130 lbs, in the last 3 years I've gained over 80 lbs. 9 months ago I got my last shot, at first the weight wasn't coming off. But now it seems like it's just falling off. I've lost over 30 pounds in the last 2 months. Its taken the entire 9 months to start having a period again, after going 6-7 years without one. Basically my advise is to just wait until the shot is entirely out of your system, and you should start losing the weight.

I stopped 4 months ago. Finally out my system and ive lost 5lbs this week already. No change in diet or exercise.

I was on depo 15 years ago, no side effects. I went on it a few months ago, to stop my heavy periods ( I'm 44) and I have gained 20 pounds in 4 months, I get vertigo like symptoms, I'm Moody, I have NO energy...I'm so lost as what to do. I can't miss work by having a hysterectomy, but my periods we're AWFUL. This weight gain has ruined the self esteem I had. I believe the weight gain / side effects all depend on your age, your hormones, etc. I'm supposed to get my shot tomorrow, but I really don't think I'm going to. Maybe I'm so old, my periods won't come back. ;)

I was on the shot for 9 months. Was always pretty skinny, around 95 pounds now I weigh about 107.. Which I realize I got very lucky compared to some other horror stories on here... I just really want to get the extra pounds off. My stomach is always bloated and it's really annoying. Also I had experienced some hair loss, and intense painful cramps as well as non-stop bleeding...which is why i got on the shot in the first place! It did nothing to help and honestly I advise anyone reading this to never get this shot. It's very bad for your body.

I am a 20 year old woman and I have been on the Depo injection for 3 years, I was never told to have a break or anything. I am naturally a skinny person and I gained about 1 and a half stone whilst being on the Depo but only within the past year. My injection runs out 17/12/15 and I am wondering why I am suddenly losing weight rapidly which if I lose any more I will have to be put in hospital, my eating habits are pretty bad but I only like certain food. I also suffer from depression so I am just wondering what is going on with my Depo. I am also getting the odd spottings here and there. Can someone please help?

Yes i most certainly gained weight when i got off depo! I was on it from June till December in 2014.. When i started in June i was about 130-135.. When i got off in December i was 180-190!!!!!!! Now it's almost a year later and i havent lost a single pound despite all my effort.

Hey, thought I'd tell my story I went on depo at 16 and withing 6 month I had gained 60lbs, my weight gain was so fast my doctor immediately pulled me off. After for another 8 months I gained 20 more lbs. My doctor told me when I started my period I would lost most of it, at least 50lbs of it. Well she lied, I haven't lost any of it I wasn't skinny but I wasn't fat either. When I went to see her she said I wouldn't lost weight for two years but here I am still not losing it. I'm now 19 turning 20 for any girl women adult do NOT take this, listen to me other options are harder to keep track of. But this isn't worth it, not everyone experiences the same side effects but one of you reading this I guarantee will. I will probably never lose the weight. Maybe other options but for all you women. Please stay away from this.

Now a days you aren't suppose to be on depo for more than 3 years because of bone loss. That might be why you lost bone because you were on it for 7 years! And it takes a long time for your body to go back to normal after it. I think the longest was a year until your periods can start to come back! Hope that helps a little :)

Me too! I only got two shots and gained over 60lbs. Not to mention the horrible mood swings.

I was on depo and didn't gain any weight Until I got off of it :/ mine is the opposite so I'm not sure I should get back on it again ughh
