how soon do you lose weight after going of depo provera?

Ive been on depo for about 24 years. I think its the best thing next to peanut butter. Never had a period. I did gain wight but only about 7 lbs. a year. I gained most of my weight after a bad car accident. My doctor is going to take me off it next month. She said I will loose alot of weight. Lets see. 51 and hopefully thin in a year.

What did you switch to?

1 was 110 and now am 150 and i just got my second shot

Hey. I read this nearly 9 months in and now my last shot. Everything you have said I feel. Low labido. Weight gain. General distaste at my body that I have never had before. I'm scared I've damaged it beyond repair already. My knees heart so much when I exercise. And that is 4 x per week with change to my weight. How can that be? :(

Yess ive literally been on it 3 months and gained 17 pounds i know it has to be the shot because i have always been the same weight my diet never changed and I exercise daily its crazy I HATE THIS BIRTHCONTROL i dont know what other birth control has less side effects

Thanks!!! Just when I thought there was no hope. I took one shot in July of 2015 and gained about 70 in a year and I still haven't had a period as well! Granted I worked some 3rd shifts, and that was also a probable cause for eating to stay awake, but it's just never been like me to get this big. I'm getting married in September and was scared I couldn't lose the weight after reading all these comments. thanks for the motivation!

I would recommend to get tested for vitamin levels, heavy metals, and allergies. Some articles have linked depo to causing autoimmune disease in a few people or making a preexisting autoimmune disease wor iworse. Having adequate nutrition and no heavy metals/food allergens in your diet is really important, especially if you have an autoimmune disease. I would also reccomend doing a full cleanse. Colon and liver cleansing has helped me. I'm still not back to my pre depo weight but I feel like it helped so much.

Hi i was exactly like you. 55kg for most of my life now bout 65kg and been on depo for 2yrs. My next inj was due mid jan 17 but ive gone off. If you read this let me know if getting off it has helped pls. Im becoming sooo depressed and self conscious. Thanks

I was on depo 4 years ago I was on it for a year and with in that year I want for being 145 to 220 and now four years latter I have not been able to lose the weight actually every time I try to lose the weight I gain more weight I have been hating myself ever since the depo is not worth it the weight is harder then hell to lose

to anyone whos reading i took depo twice a yr apart my first no weight gain my bones just felt weak so i decided i didnt wanna take it again. i got on the pill and kept forgetting to take it soa yr later i took the depo again i had a regular period no weight gain.but onceit wore off my life went down hill i went from 140 to 186 i didnt change my diet or anything i dont eat much so i was so confused how could i gain 40pds in 2months? my period stopped also. I started taking VITEX AND DONGQUA ROOT AND WEIGHT PILL PERFORMIX SST 24. I LOST 25PDS AND ITS BEEN STAYING OFF. i noticed when i stopped taking the vitex i would gain 5 pds in 2 days and i couldnt believe it the dong qua root helped my period come back so i think im going to stay on this until i feel my body has gone back to normal and the shot has fully worn off.....im still dealing with this crissi as we speak but I have found something that helps and I HOPE IT HELPS YOU LADIES AS WELL BECAUSE I KNOW HOW THIS FEELS (2017)
