No, I'm not talking about some S&M thing. I'm talking about my shirt rubbing them til they're sore. Perhaps I should wear something besides cotton? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Any of the dri fit/cool max will make you more comfortable. Try body glide on areas you chaffe on. It's a great product. (of course, you could use band aids)
Vaseline is a good/cheap way to fix that problem. I only had to bleed once. I remember every time it gets cold out now.
Someone on this board uses Desitin. (My dad also uses it for burns in the kitchen)
I second the Body Glide if you can get it--the stuff ROCKS!!!

Grunt,
Another thing that works pretty good is a tight fitting shirt like Under Armour. I wear them as a base layer in the winter. There are also Nipguards.
Good luck!

My Body Glide is supposed to be here by tomorrow. The chaffing under my right arm has gradually turned into one horrible looking hickey. Not something that looks nice or attractive. :|
I'm hoping that I won't be scarred from this.

Or you can just go shirtless!
Actually the ideas present above are all excellent. During the humid months I usually go shirtless and all my running shirts are cool max or that kind of material. They do help. I havent ever gotten bloody nipples but I have seen it and it doesnt look comfortable.
Good Luck.

I use the Curad spots. They are small round bandaids that work perfectly. They are small so they are less painful to remove.
l'il bandaids.
Haven't you heard? COTTON KILLS!!!!
Body glide works for me with rashing in other areas. Hubby has the nipple problem only when it's raining out.

Thanks everyone. I hadn't thought of the little round band-aids. Those should work better than the "strip" band-aids which do a great job of removing hair. I'll have to look into the lubes also.
So, it sounds like anything made of Lycra or a lightweight polyester is what most people wear. Yes? I probably should start replacing my cotton with more comfortable materials. Any additional thoughts or recommendations on apparel? Thanks again.

:1: Especially the glide in cold weather.
Well I got my first case of bloody nipples this morning and it stings!!!! The weather was cool enough that I needed shirt but the humidity was in the 90 percent range so I was soaked and that leads to the shirt rubbing my chest raw. I hope I recover by Monday.
Funny you bring it up FB!
Yesterday I forgot the Body Glide and 5 miles into my 10 miler, my nipples started hurtin'. After 7 miles, the blood was showing through my shirt. :-x
