I am 31, 5"3', female and have been considered low weight or underweight most of my life. From age 18 to 28 I was usually 98- 102 lbs. A few years ago, I lost weight and have ranged between 95-98 lbs. A year ago I was diagnosed by a blood test as hypothyroid, so now I am taking L-Lysine for that. I checked my BMI on an internet test yesterday and it was 17.4. I have a small bone structure, so I know I should be on the lower end of average weight, but it seems to me that I am below where I should be. What should I do to gain weight?
Hi

It sounds like your are on the right track with gathering information about your health situation. That's great ! To gain weight, you should stick to the nutrition pyramid, just increase your caloric intake in a balanced way. Have some fun with it too. Treat yourself to some chocolate or a big fat ice cream sunday once in a while.....It all boils down to calories. Take in more calories than your are burning off, and you should gain weight. Again, don't forget to stick with the pyramid so that your food choices are basically healthy ones.
