OMG!!! I thought I was the only one... I like the tingling sensation from plucking hair off my chin and other places I don't want to mention lol

This is so funny...To the person who likes to rub the hair in their fingers after it is plucked....That is me to a T. My boyfriend has those wicked thick hairs on his chin and they get ingrown, so I dig them out and when they come out, I like to rub them in my fingers to separate all of the hairs in this bundle like formation. :-) It is so interesting to me. Usually after like 4 or 5 he makes me stop, but I could pluck out his whole beard. I often wish I had those hairs on my legs so I could pluck them whenever I felt like it. This cracks me up that so many other people love doing this. Also, the person who said they love when they pluck one and the whole pimple comes out with it? I yell out a big "Yessssssss!" when I get one of those! haha. :-)

This is crazy...I cannot believe there are so many of us out there. I imagine there are even more that have not found this forum yet. I just thought I was the only one for soooo long. I don't know what i'll do when my hair stops growing, haha.

It's called trichotillomania when you enjoy pulling your hairs and for some that includes examining the follicles afterwards.

I also pluck my beard, the first few times was just to remove ingrown hairs, but then I started taking a couple more each time. I do enjoy it but don't feel guilty about doing it. I hate shaving and plucking makes my face feel so smooth, I love how it feels afterwards.

I always make sure I use clean tweezers and have a good wash afterwards and then splash cold water and then apply some lotion or moisturizer. I only really do my chin and neck, bit too painful on the upper lip. It sometimes hurts on the chin but I kinda like it, reminds me of when I had my nipples pierced, now that was fun!!!

I'm a little worried about any negative effects of plucking, I'm a guy so not really educated in these things. I have thought about getting laser hair removal as it would be great not to have to shave and always have nice smooth skin, my girlfriend loves me to be clean shaven when I'm ahem, ya know, treating her.

I find stretching the area of skin you're plucking between the two fingers of your left hand (assuming you're wielding the tweezers with your right)will decrease the pain considerably. Maybe it helps engage the skin nerve endings across a wider area so the hair-pluck doesn't feel so concentrated and sharp, I don't know, but it does help. Also, easing the hair out gently but firmly also reduces pain. I've been plucking my chin/beard for hm... almost ten years now and my upper lip for the last six to seven. Unfortunately there has been no sign whatsoever that repeated plucking has done anything to diminish hair growth whatsoever, but each time you pluck a hair it is gone for close to two weeks (confirmed after first taking the tweezers to my upper lip and removing a large patch of hair - it was nearly two weeks before the first hair reappeared). The great thing about plucking is that it removes the entire hair and leaves the skin clean and clear - no remnant stub lurking beneath the skin that will pop up in 12 to 24 hours. It is a totally satisfying experience to remove the entire hair, including bulb and root sheath.

Interestingly enough, I'm seeing quite a few white hairs emerging nowadays, as well as hairs with clear white tips.

I posted earlier in the thread and wanted to update it.

After plucking my beard for a month or so, I've recently started plucking my upper lip too. The first few hairs were very painful and made me sneeze instantly, but then I started and the side of the lip and worked inward. It's a different kind of pain to the rest of the face, go with it, enjoy it, oh and keep a tissue handy as your nose will run faster than Usain! Hurts at first but I kinda like it, good fun. My face is so silky smooth its worth it, love it!
I've been using a lotion for ingrown hairs, seemed like a good idea just incase. Also moisturise on a regular basis.

So I have been plucking for sometime now since my first post. It is so weird...it's as if I just CAN NOT STOP. I went for a month or so without plucking at all...just been too busy. The other night I sat down at my computer and I noticed a pair of tweezers. So I plucked one....then two...then the next thing you know the entire underside of my face is bald. HOWEVER, I also noticed during the time that I hadn't plucked I had not had any enlarged or inflamed pores. Since I did though, I have an inflamed pore on my jaw line (where I had plucked) and underside of my chin/neck. I always use clean tweezers, wash my face thoroughly, and take precautions. Now it seems though as if I pulled the pore out or something? Haha... I have no idea. Either way, it is healing...but I wonder if anyone else has had similar problem?

I am 17 and I pick off my chin hairs, all the time. Sometimes I can't sleep if I don't get the one that's bothering me, I have to try and try and try until I get it. It's like an obsession for me - and the thicker the hair follicle is, the more satisfying it is. I examine it before throwing it. I end up doing it for hours on end. Also, I'm obsessed with cracking my knuckles. I can't stop.

What's wrong with me? Lol.

Just like previous poster said, it appears to be trichotillomania. There is a bundle of info available online if you wish to look into possible causes/treatment/etc... That is, if you want to stop said behavior.

Has anyone tried tweezing their nose?
- there is quite a bit of hair supply.
- no visible "bald spots" as can happen in other places of face.
- and it hurts a lot, which enhances the "relief" after getting one out.

Just my 2 cents. I know it is an OCD, but, there seems to be quite a few of us "enjoying" some part of it...
