Panic attacks are nothing fun. However you are relatively young and while you feel you cant breathe you most likely are fine.

Panic attacks stem from the flight or fight response developed into humans over the years. For about 2 years I have had debilitating panic attacks that have effected me drastically in my life. Sometimes in social situation sometimes alone. There is nothing short of some medicine and a some steps you can take to reduce the severity and duration of these attacks and I don't know if you will ever be able to fully ever not feel like you are dying. However you can change how the affect your life. It sounds like you know the symptoms but they can range from uneasiness to shortness of breath and fear of death. It depends also on your state of mind.

Step 1) is to see a doctor like you already have and see their course of action

Step 2) Use techniques to help mitigate these circumstances.

These techniques very from person to person, but you can google these as well.

Some techniques that helped me were the following if i anticipated an attack coming on.

1) Tell myself I'm not going to die. Ive done this a thousand times before I will not die.

2) Raise your arms above your head or put them out and walk. This gets you focused on not passing out and walking around instead of the fact you feel like someone stuck a dagger in your chest.

3) Talk to someone.

4) Move limbs to wherever feels comfortable

5) Stop trying to regulate your breathing

6) Drink some baking soda

If an attack just happens. I can lessen it by laying down, putting my hands on my chest or "pumping" my hands so i can feel in them again.

Also drinking water or having water or cold air feels refreshing when you feel like you are dying.

The biggest thing I can tell you is panic attacks and depression work in hand in hand. Don't let this rob you of feeling normal and healthy. I know easier said then done and if you feel sad talk to someone. A change in diet, exercise and environment will change your intensity of panic attacks. If you can figure out what "triggers" them you will have greater control over them.

I hope it helps to know you aren't the only one to deal with this either.

I have the same problem, whenever i do exercises i feel well, then i drink fruit juices.
Its not of panic your problem with breathing caused. thats caused of cold. you may have been outsite long or driving with the window opened, so be carefull of the coldness, try to do easy exercises, and try to not stay at the places where the ppl smoke, also eat so much fruites, dont eat much but eat sometimes a day and little, and when u feel u have problems with breathing try to touch ur stomach and change the room(dont go from room to outside, but from room to room) cause if you go from room to outside when having breath problems then u may feel worser.... and i have problems when i do sex with many girls a week, so the point is to the masturbation...u r young and u dont have to watch pornosm if u do it u should prevent the pornos at all

ALL THESE F***ING PROBLEMS I HAD 2 YEARS LONG TOO :-( :-( AND IT HELPS ME MUCH WAY IM USING, AND SMT I FEEL 100% GOOD BUT IM BAD WHEN I DONT WEAR ENOUGH CLOTHES, AND IM USING A MEDICAMENT RECENTLY, MAIL ME AT

i believe you have a deviated septum which requires a septoplasty surgery in which they will removed the bone or cartilage that is blocking your airway

Hi there. panic attacks sure feel awful. they mess up the way we breathe of course and make us feel like we just can't get enough breath in. To ease the breathing symptoms i suggest seeing someone who can help you find normal breathing pattern again. assuming there is nothing medical, that "can't breathe in" feeling is almost always because the lungs are too full of air - because bossy old adrenalin makes us breathe in and fast but doesn't let us relax enough to breathe the breath right out. so we try to gasp more in... and it just gets worse. i think Breathing Works in Auckland is great for this - it is exactly the kind of thing they treat. They have a few people trained up in Australia - i don't know where you are but hope this is helpful. you could check their web site. good luck and I hope you meet the people you need to get through this.
