I recognize this is a old post but I have also been experiencing the same rectal pressure out of nowhere. First it started suddenly, but what's interesting it feels like constant rectal pressure as well as it feels like I have to urinate or I have discharge/or urine leaking from my vagina as well. It is extremely disturbing. I don't know if it is hemorrhoids or what the hell this is but it is so uncomfortable. I used to also have a sitting job for years and I don't know if that is causing it or what. And I know I don't have to make a bowel movement because I will have one and I still feel the discomfort. It is beyond disturbing. I also was recently diagnosed with IBS and GERD and I also have had terrible anxiety and panic attacks. But this rectal pressure ruins my entire day like I don't know if I'll be able to work another job because of it! I really really wish there was an answer for this

What kind of pressure

Has anyone tried cutting out dairy? I stopped using milk products and have been trying plant based Whole Foods and the anxious poop feeling is less. Another thing that makes me feel this way is after eating cookies and I think it’s butter. Anyway, it was well worth trying and I believe a naturopath would be really great to contact instead of taking meds.

Well I have read all these posts and sympathize with you all. I have been dealing with this rectal pressure for almost two years now. I have had a colonoscopy, X rays, cat scan, ultra sound, been to several specialists and therapist. Nobody seems to know what is wrong. All tests come back normal. I KNOW there is something very wrong. For me the pain is worse when laying down. It is indeed ruining my life. I really can't stand the severe pain anymore. I have tried heat, ice, stretches, laxatives, even a tens machine on my butt. I know the problem itself is not constipation but after a bowel movement in the morning, as soon as the poo starts building up, it makes it worse. But even when I lay down right after a movement, it still hurts. It feels like there is a brick sitting on my tailbone. The pain is so severe, I am at my wits end. After 21 months of this, I just honestly feel at times I can't go on like this. What does one do when their doctor tells them they don't know what's wrong and just end up dismissing your complaints because they don't know what the problem is. If they themselves went through just ten minutes of this you can be sure they would find out the problem. Between my fibromyalgia and this pressure pain, my QOL is diminishing. The only test I have not had done is an MRI, there is about a years waiting list for this here in Canada, wish my name had of been on that list long ago. There seems to be too many people the same problem with no diagnosis. It's terrible.

I also am having rectal pain which feels like I have to have a bowel movement but I don’t. A lot of abdominal and back pain too. I have fallen a few times backwards but not recently. I have fibromyalgia and IBS but this feels very different. I can’t see my PCP until mid March.

Yes, this is exactly what it feels like, the need for a bowel movement that is not relieved by having one. I have seen my doctor 100 times, he is at a loss to diagnose my problem. However, after the horrendous pain of last Friday night, I am calling him for another appointment tomorrow and I HAVE to get through to him that I cannot take this anymore. He just has no clue of what I am going through. As with most fibromyalgia patients, we are just often seen as drama queens.

Hi Anna,

I've been having all those same feelings for a while now and to date haven't found the cause. Since your post over a year ago have you found anything to give you relief?

I've been having the same kind of pain to the point that I am afraid to eat. Also can barely urinate. Haven't been anywhere in 10 days. Ate some tangerines 2 eggs and some cheese Friday. Nothing since except juice and now only water. Comments and prayers appreciated.

Did you ever resolve this? Same thing happening to me now.

Hi Cindy,
I know you posted this some time ago, but I just stumbled across this, and I too suffer from this. A constant feeling of pressure and tightness in my anus. Like there (sorry for TMI) a mass of stool caught in there and I can't get it out. I have suffered from severe and chronic constipation since a child. I have to take Senna-Lax once a week just to flush. I have tried everything. Doctor's and Gastroenterologist dismiss me. They just want to do a colonoscopy for money, throw Linzess, or that awful Miralax at you, tell you to drink more water, exercise and fiber, which I do, but does not work for people who suffer from severe constipation. I have tried everything, stool softeners, oils, everything. Nothing works except stimulant laxatives. I am miserable. Have no social life anymore, have lost a ton of weight (colonoscopy showed two polyps - non-cancerous) that I had a week ago. In the past two months I have been to the ER 14 times for impaction. They have to give me enemas, which only constipate me more after a few days. I know enemas and laxatives are bad for your colon, but I figure my colon is damaged anyway, and I am wanting to have it removed badly to stop this suffering. The ER groans every time I go in, But what can I do, I am impacted, and they are rude to me. Have you considered internal hemmorrhoids? Sometimes they can be large and protrude and cause rectal/anus tightness. There are medications that can help relax the muscle. And spasms. I am looking into this too. I hope you have found relief by now.

I too am having the same problem. It is affecting the quality of my life. I have no social life anymore. I have tried everything. Just had colonoscopy, had two polyps, non-cancer. All he said was "IBS, eat more fiber, drink more water, exercise" which I do, but for people with severe and chronic constipation like me, more fiber just make things worse. I have tried Linzess, Amitiza, fish oil, Magnesium Glycinate, Probiotics, and am still miserable. I wish I knew the anwers. Doctor's are useless, they just dismiss you, or throw that awful Miralax at you, and rush you off.

Same here, so tired of living like this. Wish I knew the answers. Gastroenterologist ER's and Doctors just dismiss you. No compassion.
