I am a 26 year old male and experience a clicking in my throat when swallowing, usually in the morning when my mouth is dry. It feels like it is coming from the left hand side. I suffered with Glandular Fever around 5 or 6 years ago and my glands in my neck have been swollen since. I smoke one night every couple of weeks for the past few years, before then smoking full time for a few years. There are so many people who seem to have a similar issue (On this website and lots of others) which does make me feel reassured that its a normal occurrance. If anybody has spoken toa specialist about this and had any relevant feedback, please let me know.

I FEEL THE SAME WAY!!!!!!!
I KNOW WHAT IT IS!!!!!
I FEEL HAPPPY THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE DEALING WITH THIS!!!
AFTER HAVING ALLERGIES OR A COLD, YOU HAVE EXTRA MUCAS THAT HAS NOT BEEN COUGHED OR BLOWED OUT AND IT SLOWLY BUILDS UP EITHER IN YOUR THROAT OR NOSE, WHEN ENOUGH MUCAS BUILDS UP IT TENDS TO FEEL LIKE SOMETHING IS CLOGGING YOUR THROAT.

THE WAY TO GET RID OF THE MUCAS IS TO COUGH IT UP OR BLOW......OR IF YOU HAVE A LARGE AMOUNT YOU MIGHT HAVE TO TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR

IM GLAD I COULD HELP!

hello,

I am only 14 and am experiencing something like all of this. for a while now, I have had what I think is OCD. My parents don't believe me, so I havnt gotten any help for it. Basically, I just work myself up over what is 'lucky and unlucky' for me to do. So for about a year or more, I continously swallow my spit, and since I have OCD, I make myself believe I have to do it twice. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but all of a sudden I started to have what seemed like an ongoing cold. It's summer, and I still have a cold. There is a lump feeling in my throat, and I have noticed that a big bump is forming in my neck. My parents believe that I am crazy about aliments, and won't take me to the doctor. I've asked, but they continously say I'm fine. I'm starting to get self concious about this big bump forming and I recently am having trouble breathing because my throat is so full of mucus and what not. I don't know what to do, but when I try to not swallow, my throat feels like it's becoming more closed. evertime I swallow it opens up just a little bit. But it also forms a bigger bump. Help? :/

OCD! I am a 26 year old male in comment above! I have OCD too, but didnt want to mention it, I have something where I have to swallow a certain amount of times, so perhaps over swallowing with a dry throat is causing this at times? I know it sounds ridiculous, even me typing it now it does, but its just the way I think.

Hey people, Hospitals and doctors scare the hell outta me, but I have a lump in my throat, cannot cough up a damn thing from my lungs, (even when its definatly there I'll have to swallow it back down.) and when I lay on my sides (right more so than left)  I feel my breathing labour and to anyone listening it sounds like I'm wheezing HARD. When sleeping on my back it makes me snore. ( NEVER snored in my life. ) Swallowing ok,  I'm not in pain and smoke no more than 4 cig's a day.  (cut down from 3 pks)   Has anyone had similar?  Begining to worry me some.   :-(

This happened to me. I had a bad cold all weekend then all of a sudden tonight its so lumpy and painful when I swallow. I checked my tonsoils and one of them look a tiny bit red and big but I highly doubt its my tonsoils. When I drank it was really painful so that I took really little sips, but I raised one shoulder and tilted my head on the raised shoulder and took a sip and it was OK but there was a bit of pain but it kinda helped me. Also when I cough it hurts but I rekcon it was down to my coughing my throat hurts. Hope this helps:-)

hey, i am a 17 year old female. I have a really simular problem. Just recently, (past week or so) i have had a terrible sensation in my throat, like there is a golf ball or something stuck in it. It is really hard for me to swallow stuff, and when i do, i get like acid reflux and it comes back up in my throat. It it the most wierdest/uncomfortable thing i have ever had. I also have heart burn, sometimes feel short of breath. I dont smoke or anything, i just really want to know what it is. I went to the docs and he put me on these tablets that control acid reflux, but they havent helped at all. I just want it to go away so i can eat whatever i want whenever i want, and this horrible discomfort will just go away! do any of you guys know what to do? thanksss :)

Hi guys, this may not be easy for some of you to hear, but with regards to my personal throat problems.....

I saw the Doc's who x-rayed me, finding a foreign object lodged sidways in my throat.  It was a twig.  How it got there I have no idea, after all I am not knowingly eating tree parts.

This thing/twig nearly cost me my life.  When the doc removed it with scissor type gripper things, it ripped the surrounding scar tissue's that had built up on both sides.  This was as painfull as actually tearing my throat appart.  Whatever, the lump on one side broke, this turned out to be an absciss (spelling.) the puss made me choak, the scissors-grippy-things and/or twig punctured my artery as I choaked.  IT was only a very small hole but the blood was everywhere very quickly.  Thank god I was not trying to remove this object alone and by my self.  IF IT FEELS LIKE THERE IS SOMETHING LODGED IN YOUR THROAT, GET  THE HOSPITAL TO CHECK IT OUT.  ASSUME ITS THERE AND THE ABOVE IS GOING TO HAPPEN IF YOU TRY TO REMOVE IT YOURSELF. DO NOT TRY TO REMOVE ON YOUR OWN. I was so lucky as normaly I'd have had a go at home-removal.

I have the same sensation in my throat. It feels like a little something is caught in my throat and I can't swallow it away, it feels like it moves down just a bit but pops right back in place.  I recently pinched a nerve in my shoulder/neck that caused extreme pain in that whole area including my throat when I talked and coughed. I think it might be associated with that.  This is not the first time I've had this sensation, so I know it will go away, but it is darn annoying since when you aren't trying to swallow it away it feels like it's expanding in your throat and making it feel as though your throat is being blocked. I'm not a fan.

Globus Pharyngeus, This could well be what you are suffering from as symptoms include - A clicking in the throat when swallowing (some cases) - Mild or severe chest pain (some cases) - The distinct feeling of a lump in the throat (all cases) - Bloating of ones stomach (rarely) I hope this helps, i have the same 'lump in my throat' sensation but with no clicking on swallowing and no pain related to swallowing.
