For the past two years, I frequently have the sensation that I have a small, sharp rock in the back of my throat. I can feel it when I swallow too hard, cough or sneeze. I've been examined by an ENT doctor, but she found nothing. There is no lump that can be palpated. Am I losing my mind?

Hi, LABrooks55.

This is often a symptom of acid reflux. Acid reflux is a condition in which stomach acid backs up into the esophagus, causing a burning sensation in the back of the throat. This sensation can also be caused by other conditions such as allergies or asthma.

Your ENT hasn't found any evidence of acid reflux?

What about anxiety? Have you had problems with it in the past, or were you under a lot of stress in the past 2 years?
