i recently had sex with my boyfriend, a few times and now a few days later i have the symptoms of a uti. will this happen all the time?
This usually occurs in girls having sex for the first time or after a long time or with a new partner. This is why it is called "honeymoon cystitis"
Hi there,
I've been getting UTIs for many years, even when I was a child. Now it seems everytime I get a new boyfriend and we have sex the first couple of times I get one. I've even gotten a kidney infection...and let me tell you that is SUPER painful.
So I thought I'd give you a few tips. Drink lots of cranberry juice. If you don't like it get some cranberry pills at any drug or health store. I also eat a lot of yogurt because it's got some "good bacteria"
But the only thing that seems to work for sure is medicine called Macrobid. I take it after I have sex and it makes me a bit sleepy but it definitely works. You may not need something that strong, but I am allergic to penicillin and also resistant to other drugs like Cipro.
And I would be remiss if I didn't mention short term pain reliever. You can get them at any drug store. It's called Cystex, but there are several other kinds. It doesn't treat it but it takes away the burning before you can get to the doctor.
Good luck!!
