Female sperm? I didn't think sperm had a gender but I guess I could be wrong!

Hi, I need some help. I've been off my depo shot for about 6 months, and decided to get back on it. I got the shot 1 day after my period, and four days later my boyfriend cummed in me. Is there any possible way I could be pregnant? Because the amount of the time if was off the shot I had my periods, and would ovulate. Please help me! So if I am, my baby will be okay.

wasn't from the Depo. Talk to your Dr. Depo is Progestin, which in not a hormone, and the baby shouldn't be in the fallopian tubes or cervix.

Soucre 1: I have been getting the Depo Proevera since 2007, and I just got my shot today, and I was told at the clinic by my Nurse Practioner, that it will not affect me if I am pregnant or if I become pregnant.

Answer: Plan B also does not affect you if you are already pregnant. Reason being that Depo like low hormone or mini pills, are a progestin.

Reason: But because Depo stops the egg and causes extra cervical mucus it doesn't affect the actual fetus or the womb as it is in the Uterus and not the cervix or fallopian tubes which are the only parts that the progestin affect.

Disclaimer: I'll include citations so you have some peace of mind of the quality of the advice I'm giving you and links to better explain, as a rule of thumb though on these forums if someone doesn't provide proof of a credible source you might as well be asking the homeless guy on the corner with a sign, or a 16 year old girl on her Iphone.

Sources and Citations:

"Like other methods of birth control, the birth control shot releases a hormone — progestin — into the body. Hormones are chemicals made in our bodies. They control how different parts of our bodies work.

The progestin in the shot works by

Keeping eggs from leaving the ovaries. Pregnancy cannot happen if there is no egg to join the sperm.Making cervical mucus thicker. This keeps sperm from getting to the eggs. "

"Do birth control pills cause birth defects if taken during early pregnancy? Answers from Roger W. Harms, M.D.

Taking combination birth control pills or minipills (progestin-only birth control pills) during early pregnancy doesn't appear to increase the risk of birth defects."

also I've been a medical technician since I was 18 and I'm 27 now. this is why you don't just take one person's story at face value without any citations. She had a miscarriage which sucks, but was not caused by the depo, simply operates on an assumption. I'm willing to put MONEY that the Dr didn't tell her that because I've found numerous medical articles showing no correlation, and have provided plenty of proof.

those symptoms are common because the body thinks it's pregnant after the first shot because you haven't dropped an egg. I went through that for my first treatment, I had nausea, heartburn, my ass got huge, and my armpits hurt, and I got no period. Once all the other symptoms went away and I was left with just no period, It was the best thing ever and I will never go back to the pill again.

I sarted the depo shot about three years ago. i stopped for about a year and just recently started back the 8th of this month. i was supposed to start my monthly friend on the tenth, but i have still yet to see her make an apperience. i have never been pregnant before, but i just feel something different going on with my body and i understand what pregnancy symptoms are and i feel as if i may be pregnant. i am craving chocolate milk, which is very unusual, my breast are super sensitive, my nipple are 10 times darker then ever, im having headaches and exsperiencing dizziness, i work a 8-5 job and have trouble keeping my eyes open the whole time, i go home and nap for at least a hour, i cant fit any ofmy jeans anymore. i took a pregnacy test about two weeks ago and it was negative. could it have been to early? i dont have insurance until next month. i dont know what to do. i need opinions.

Hi, it shouldn't be possible but no contraceptive is 100% what makes you think you might be pregnant other than the obvious that you had sex lol
