I'd say it's happened to an awful lot of people, just like people passing out after drinking. If you overload your system, your brain will essentially say 'I can't deal with this' and shut down. That's a gross over-simplification, and there's some new age stuff that I probably shouldn't even get into on the website. If you choose to message me privately, I will tell you some other aspects that are hardly 'medical facts', but in my experience nevertheless relevant.
I speak with some experience, having experimented with hash, grass, magic mushrooms, for long enough, that I now look back with longing to a time when my brain worked as it once did. Your brain is optimised for 3D reality - managing life - you do drugs, you're basically saying f**k reality, and that's fair enough, your choice, but in due course, over time, reality comes back and says f**k you.
If you want to be able to deal with life when you get older - and I say this not to preach, just to warn - you may want to keep as much of your brain functional as you can. I've still got maybe 70%, and most people don't notice the difference, but I do.
Your life's your own, and like Johnny Depp in fear and loathing in Las Vegas, the scariest thing of all is, no one else cares enough to save you - or put it another way, they may try, but ultimately, they know it's down to you.
So, do people black out? Yes. Do they lose an ability to cope with reality? Yes. 'Smart' drugs are a myth, but ultimately, it's your call.
