It's been some time since I visited this page - 1 year almost to the day post-op and I still feel great. the occasional creak from my neck, and the topper was in December, the surgeon did lumbar fusion on my lower spine, just 6 weeks after the neck fusion. They both "took".
:)
I am now off ALL prescription pain meds, the only thing i take is Toprol for blood pressure.
I hope you have found relief from your pain, you have my best wishes. May time heal your wounds and I hope you have had the surgery and recovered completely.

Get off those damn pain meds and do it with natural medicines that is available and proper excises My back had been surgically repairs over forty years ago. I have RA and rotator cuff damaged in both shoulders, five different knee surgeries in both knees combined, painful hip problem. Needless to say I was on so many pain killers during the las thirty five years. And since Donald Trumps President's Signature on the Opioid Restriction Bill I was taken off on Pain killers. I reacted badly to taking me off but it was the best thing that I have ever done. My change in my life expectations has me thinking that I can finally get out and enjoy life instead saying whoa is me and thinking I would be in so much pain I would not survive. You will and be in some pain the rest of your born days that you will be on this planet.
I pray for you and you will be better for it. Ask your surgeon for different medicine other than opioids and methadone or Morphine or Fentanyl Take large does of Glucosamine and Carbenoid oil and smoke some low THC 1percent or so weed. And ask your Physical Therapist for exercise program and think about continue visits to PT office.

My husband had c3-c7 laminectomy, and his spine is also degenerated. Will he be okay? Can he work again?

Just went through the same C3 through C7 . Two rods and all the screws. First surgery 2 years ago C3 through C5 didn't work. I'm struggling also. I ranch full time and keep a job as a Code officer
Working nights and weekends. 3 months removed from surgery and on the same pain meds due to the rods felling like there going to stick out of my shoulder. I pray thos gets better because I'm so far behind here ranching. Sometimes I think I'm losing the battle. I've always had a high motor running around all the time. Now I'm just walking everywhere and feel weak after just a little work

Funny thing is I've been on pain meds for 8 years and once to twice a year I stop for a few days to gauge where I am and if I can cut back. Only once did I even fell a light night sweat . My doctor's say this is a great thing. Unfortunately I'm 59 and lived a rough life. My C3 &C7 maybe the thing that finally slows me down. I had my lower back fused September 20 and then the whole neck rod thing November 29 th. Been really tough. But I'm back at work. Maybe 60% of what I was pre surgery. But still taking some pain meds about half. Could use more but refuse to go back to fentlal patches and pills
Patches won't do it on their own still

Had bilateral laminectomy from c3 to c7 with instrumentd fusion "stryker" from c3 to T1 in 2019 age 63. l had severe degenertive cervical spondylosis with spinal stenosis which resulted in a near total loss of disc space height and large formations of osteophytes, spinal cord was impacted at 3 location within the cervical spine. My symtoms were a high degree of numbness in my hands and feet and tingling down my left arm. Neck movements caused much discomfort and an audible cracking and grinding sound "at least to me" after surgery l spent 5 days recovering at St. Micheals Hosptial in Toronto and another 2 week at St. Johns Rehabilitaion hospital. Three years after surgery the neck pain is greatly diminshed but shoulder pain persists and probably will for the rest of my life. l take no pain meds except for about 400 mg. of Gabbys daily. I returned to golf last year, twice a week and can perform most tasks, ROM is limited but not so that l cannot function. The end result is that by doing this major operation in one visit it negated the need for multiple operations that can increase the likelihood of complictions. It was not easy however and recovery was long and hard. The end result however has left me a functioning unit and hopeful for the future. In my case the future would have been paralysis without this major intervention and for that l am greatful to the doctors and nurses that saved me. To everybody keep an postive attitude and stay active mentally and physically.
