Okay. I'm aware that a lot of people nowdays need help losing weight for whatever reason, especially at my age. I'm sad to say I'm just another one of those fat chicks that want to lose weight (don't take this to offense, it's my personal motivation).
Now for the horrible details of my 'healthy' life.
I'm 13, well barely. I know the site said 13 and over but my birthday is August 17, so not that bad.
I'm 4'11. I might be 5'0 but just to play it safe, I'm 4'11. Now I weigh roughly 140 pounds or more. I have a doctor type of scale and since I had already began balancing out around there, I assume I'm around there... My BMI is probably Overweight & I so don't want that!!!
My goal is to slim down to a healthy weight of 110 or if possible, 100. Or any other healthy weight. Just not 140!!! I want to complete this before school ends, Im startig school on Wednesday. I have a long date set for my weight loss because I know I'm going to have issues but I want to try my hardest to slim down before highschool! (I'm going to 8th grade). Should I shorten my weight goal? Or is it fine?
Now about me... I'm a reallll sweet tooth! I love chocolate, coke, chips, cookies.. You name it!!! I can stop eating them though, so that's hardly a prob. What's a prob is my family. I'm too shy to announce I'm gonna loose weight because it'd feel awkward.. Especially since I'm a teen. We eat out a lot, like seriously. And by eat out, I mean restraunt food with tons of calories and all that! I can resist that too, but I don't know howto eat correctly, as in know what to eat and what not to. For breakfast, I usually skip it. Is that good or bad? Should I eat breakfast? If so, what? Then for my excercise, my school requires PE every week so that's no prob. At home, I do my hw and lounge on the computer. Other than that, I do nothing. I am 13 so I can't go to the gym or anything... But I do have a Wii Fit & excercise equipment... Yet again I'm too shy to use anything because I'm afriad that my family will tease... ):
my body is different too.. I have chubby baby cheeks & big breasts for my age... They're size C... Idk if that makes me weigh more or what...
Idk! I just really want to loOss weight no matter what!!! I'm willing todo anything in my power, which isn't much since I'm 13, but still! I own a treadmill too... Hey. I'm seen friends faced with this situation and I'm personally face with this too. I'm afraid this might get a little long winded, but let's try to keep it short. And instead of saying losing weight, I'll be referring it to losing fats or fat loss. This is important since many a times when we see a decrease in weight, it may be due to loss of water instead of fats loss.
Firstly, the most important in losing fats/slimming down is to have a strong mindset and determination. To tell the truth, slimming down isnot an overnight thing and it requires constant effort. You must also be ready for any negativity regarding you slimming down coming your way. I've faced problems with that before. I'm always lazy to hit the gym/track and friends say that I'm fat and definitely will not slim down. But I still make it a point and make it part of my schedule to do it. So firstly, you must have the DETERMINATION and COURAGE to face the hardships of slimming down.
Also, don't be afraid to tell everyone that you are going to slim down. You'll never know what their reaction will be. They may ENCOURAGE you, instead of teasing you. So go ahead and tell them. Announce it during dinner, let them know. If they truly care for you, they will help you with your goals, and I believe it is a family's wish to have health complications/problems kept out of the family, and being overweight will increase the risk of health problems.
Secondly, is another aspect that is important is EXERCISE. Well, you do say that you have P.E. classes every week, but I'm not too sure how much hours is allocated for P.E. every week. However, if apart from P.E., you should do your own workout too. You do not have to go for long hours of traditional cardio. You can try a much more effective workout such as 'Wind Sprints' or 'High Intensity Interval Training'. Both of this will help improve your fitness and at the same time burn more fats for you.
Your workout should include some aspects of gaining muscles. No need for the bodybuilding workout, but just by gaining some muscles, you will be able to burn fats off better as metabolism will increase up to 48 hours after the workout. Although you cannot use the gym, some bodyweight exercises such as push-ups, pull-ups, squats, etc. will help. Try as much muscles as possible. Not that you have to do all in one day, but you can split them out, so that you do not get bored training. And most important, don't expect to loss fats by doing Spot Reduction. It will not work.
Next, your diet is important. But as what you point out, you are able to cut down on snacks, so I'm not too worried. But you should try to eat more meals in lesser portions to increase your metabolism so that you will burn off more fats. Drinking more water will also increase your metabolism by about 20% or might be even more. This will serve to help you slim down faster.
So hopefully, I've managed to help you gain some insights on how to do it. Wish you all the best in getting your desired goal of 110 Pounds. So remember the M.E.D. of losing weight; Mindset Exercise Diet.

Hi there, I think that the first thing you need to do before you lose weight is consult with a doctor. You're very young, and that's just what you have to do when you want to lose weight. Second of all, you should not skip breakfast. It makes it harder for you during the day and you will tend to overeat. In fact, if you eat little meals through the day, you'll be able to lose weight without having to hit the gym. Just ake sure you take in fewer calories than you burn--again, a doctor can help you with this. What do you think?

Secondly, am I a nutritionist? I'm not, at least not yet. However, I do have to learn nutritional studies in my course of work, therefore I will have to know stuff as such this. Plus, there are many Fitness Instructors and Nutritionists that have provided the information on their own sites and books. So what I did was to use what I've learned from them and provide those guidelines. Plus, some parts are personal experience.

No, no, no - breakfast is a must! My recommendation: fruit and whole grains: my usual choice would be mussli and banana - I mix together and voila - healthy and great for weight loss.
If you have a sweet tooth - no prob :-) I am too, don't eat sweets nor chocolate ... I eat fruit - it is full with sugar, and it will definitely give you higher sugar level, if that's what you need...
I agree with chenxiang1 - exercise ... Cardio workout is the best option if you want to loose weight - that is running, cycling, swimming, even fast walking - anything that makes your heart beat faster. Treadmil is just fine - but you have to be on it about 40 minutes to make it effective... and don't eat after exercising... 1 hour before and after exercise - do not eat. and even after that - make it a small and light meal.. overall you should eat 5 SMALL MEALS - SMALL is the key word here and 5 :-P
Water, drink water - 1,5 liters every single day - at least...
Breasts will decrease in size when you loose weight - trust me ;-)
And regarding your family - they will tease because you're trying to improve your life and make it healthier? WTF? I would tease them back for being couch potatoes or whatever...

SO i am 13 (obviously) and i am 5'1" tall and 136--ish pounds... i know this isnt as bad as some people but i feel in between. Lots of people make fun of me.. they dont call me fat, but the girls who make fun of me are all skinny. I have skinny friends but i always feel self conscious that they are looking @ my belly and flab. I havent gona through puberty really so i am praying to god that will work in my favor. At the end of the year ( which is about 2 months away) there is a prom. I already have a dress picked out and it makes me look really good. But my arms-- god help me-- my arms, YUCK! they are DISGUSTING! I am going with a tall skinny boy that i really like but were going as friends. I really tried to lift weights while doing homework BUT i only have ONE barbell and its 5lbs. A good weight, but there is only one.
The other thing is that i unfortunately have very broad shoulders and that means i have wide ribs. :-( I cant believe i have let my weight get this far...
4th grade was my last "skinny" year. We had recess and we ran around all the time. Then i moved to a different school and they had vending machines and barel any opportunity for excersize. 3 years at that school made me soft. Now i cant do anything i used to. Not because i get winded easily, but because i dont have the motivation to. All of my friends are skinny and tall. ( which i really weird because i am short and fat) Since my friends are skinny and tall and they dont live near me i dont really have an excersizing buddy. My mom likes to go on walks with me but she is slowing down and so is my dad. My mom is 48 and my dad is 65. I feel REALLY bad that they are so old and they wont be able to do much with me in the future but i cant help their aging.
Also its really hard for me to get guys. Since i have gained weight no one has had crushes on me. When i was still skinny in 5th grade i got a boyfriend. I broke up with him- blah blah blah... Now he calls me a whale.
I feel like im not getting guys because of my weight. And i dont care how many times someone tells me i am beautiful or its whats inside that counts.. that is BS everyone wants to be pretty. I have ALWAYS wanted to be asian. IDK why but i just have... i guess part of it is the being thin part..

Smorshaxoxo, maybe you are right. Everybody wants to be pretty, who wants to be ugly? Everybody wants to feel good about themselves, who want to feel bad? Definitely being pretty makes you feel good to know that you can be pretty. Being pretty is all about perception. Feeling confident create an aura around you to make the other party perceive you as pretty.
Firstly, your arms may not be due to fats, but rather water retention. Many ladies have this problem. So find a way to remove the excess water, and start drinking smaller water molecules water to prevent future water retention problem.
Secondly, it's good that you are working out at home. Don't let only one dumbbells stop you from lifting weights. You can train left then right, allowing you to focus on that one side.
Lastly, having friends who are skinny and tall, allows you to drag them to gym with you. If they don't want, find someone that lives near you, and get them to workout with you. You can try the net, or just ask around.

People are attracted to looks for sexual needs, and confidence for psychological needs. Psychological needs will overwhelm sexual needs easily, and with confidence, I believe you can attract many guys.
