Hi, i am really scared. I have been sober as of June 14, 2009 a year. Well, on suboxone but no heroin/methadone/ocs or anything. i drink socially but thats it. My husband is navy and coming home in 2 months. I want to be off of this medicine so i can be my self with him, i am very scared of the withdraws...i dont want to feel it again, my mom is soo scared for me and said she will do anything to help me get off. i dont know if i should try and go somewhere until i can taper off, or should i try and get anxiety meds..but i dont want to get on zanex or kalatpins ( spelling) cuz i was on them when i did heroin. I left a horrible relationship in NC to come to VA my Dr is amazing, and very helpful and truly concerned, but in my head i am ready to get off for good, but i am scared i have barely had cravings and i do not want to start now. I have read of how to quit, well smoking week and valium sounds like a turn around..like id be going back to same thing. I am hairstylist and cannot afford to miss work . Please help me. I need it!
Thanks.
Thanks.
Hi Guest, :-D
Hello from one Navy wife to another. First, dont let your fear overcome you, there are solutions to every problem. I would seriously consider having a long consult with your doc. Does your husband know you are on this med? Be honest with your hubby and ask him to help/be a little more understanding. Take it from me, dont let fear run your life. It stinks. Really though, speak with your doc, and tell him your concerns. It helps me alot when I make a list of questions to ask my doc, so that I dont forget. Also, take the time to weight out your fears and concerns, and also take the time to remember the positives. Because there is ALWAYS a positive side to every dilemna.
Oh, CONGRATULATIONS on being sober, good job !!! :-D :-D :-D :-D
Oh, also ask a pharmacist, they have a world of information on side effects, etc. . BUT ALWAYS consult your doctor FIRST....
Blessings,
Hizgrace

I'm also on Suboxone and take it from me ... You REALLY need to talk to your doctor BEFORE you decide to taper yourself down. Please, DO NOT try to do that on your own! I understand you not wanting to depend on anything and do it on your own, but with this, you cannot.
Make an appointment with your doctor and tell him how you feel and your reason/s as to why you want off of it and if they feel that you are READY to come off of it, they will taper you off Suboxone in a SAFE way.
All the best and BE CAREFUL!

`i was on subutext for 2 years and i can tell you it's not an easy withdrawl unless you go by the olden rule of tapering; the lower the doe, the slower you taper down! that is the secret. don't do this in a hurry. and if you can get some clonidine, it helps the skin crawlly feeling. lower the slower. when you down to 0.4 try skipping every other day and then a third day weeks down the road.slowly does it.
