I’m interested in how bacofen pump works when implanted? My father has to be treated with bacofen injected in spinal core. He has been on bacofen pills for about last 6 months but his disease has progressed. He has multiple sclerosis. Please tell me something about this spinal implant of bacofen. Thanks.

This pump system has several advantages comparing to oral administration of baclofen. My friend has had the implant and that really keeps the disease under control. Involuntary spasms are reduced; she sleeps better and is relieved from pain that was caused by spasms. Pump delivers amount of medication that is needed directly into spinal fluid, and that way effects are increased. Orally taken medication has to pass intestines and liver and that way it loses part of its efficacy and the dose that gets into nervous system is significantly decreased.
