About a few years now I've noticed sweating in the vaginal area. Is it normal? I am 27 years old and have PCOS...amnerrohea, thinning hair, acne, mild facial hair, am not obese but slightly overweight for my height. Please let me know, this makes me worried. Thanks!

It is normal that all the women have their own vaginal scent. As long as it’s their natural scent they recognize, it shouldn’t be a problem. But if you notice the smell is somewhat different than usual, this should be the issue. Perineal odor is caused by oils in sweat gland secretions, vaginal secretions and also if a woman has the urine leakage. All sweat gland secretions are the same components as urine so it’s not uncommon that the vulvar area sometimes smells like urine, which reminds of ammonia.
Also, many of the food we eat have odorous oils that end up being secreted in sweat so the more fat we ingest- the more oil will be secreted!
If you want to control the vaginal odor, you surely shouldn’t use any deodorant or gels or anything that could disturb the acidic balance of your vagina. You just keep it clean with mild soaps and of course, you should have a word with your gynecologist and ask him what exactly should you do to stop this sweating!

I have the same sweating problem (and am close to your age--28). It is not an odor problem, but a sweat problem, sometimes so bad that my pants become noticably damp in the crotch if I sit for a long time. It is not leakage. There is no odor. It is not discharge. It's sweat.

I haven't really found any helpful resources in my research either.

I was treated with Drysol for overactive armpit sweating about 10 years ago and have been looking into information on hyperhidrosis. Have you had other sweating problems? I plan to talk to my OB/GYN about it on my next annual visit.

Hi Jenny,

I have a similar sweat problem because of which i even avoid going out of my home as if i get out of the air conditioner, i start sweating. Fyr, i am 24 years old weighing 54.60 kgs. My height is 5 inches n i have regular periods. with regard to my problem, I used to think that its just a pschycological problem but now i have even started checking my panties everytime when i feel the irritation and my panty is wet from both the sides. It doent smell or anything. It is sweat only. Sometimes, i change my panties twice / thrice a day as when it gets wet, it starts irritating me... i feel as if some rash might develop. So, i clean my vagina with soap n water eveytime when i come back to home or i mean everytime when it becomes wet. it happens about 2 - 3 times a day. I checked with my mom. She doesnt have this problem nor does my younger sister though sometimes she complains of vaginal odour. It has become a major problem as i m from India and summers here are tooooooooooo bad n i just cant get out of my house.

Please advise me if it is a serious problem as i m about to get married in another 7-8 months

Regards

There is a condition of excessive sweating (known as hyperhidrosis) in your vaginal area. Applying cornstarch can help control moisture and odor, temporarily, as some have already discovered. Alternatively, some women find they can manage any odor and sweat by bathing twice a day. Antiperspirants also help control sweating and odor, however, it is important to avoid applying antiperspirants to mucous membranes. The labia (vaginal lips) and vagina are mucous membranes and can easily be irritated by antiperspirant, or any harsh cosmetic. In addition, it may be helpful for you to avoid conditions of excess heat, and stay clear of diets that are too high in sugar, caffeine, and alcohol, because all of these may also contribute to your problem of vaginal sweating.

Considering that you may have already tried these remedies, you may have the best luck speaking with your health care provider about the underlying causes of the excessive perspiration. S/he may be able to prescribe a product that could provide you with more relief. You can also find more information about excessive sweating through the International Hyperhidrosis Society.

I hope your marriage is going well

I also have an excssive vaginal sweating problem, it also dampens my pants and becomes very noticable. I only started noticing it a few months ago and I am only 17 years old. I thought it was because I am about ten punds overwieght but I am still unsure. I was over it when we had a carnival day at our school in the hot florida sun and I had to sit the whole day so that no one would notice it. I hope someone can give me some insight because I am so tired of worrying about it all of the time!

Thanks for any future help,
Charline

Take a clean pair of underwear with you whether it be at work or school. Put the underwear in a small zip bag and some wipes in a small zip bag. Go to the restroom and wipe down there and then put on your fresh underwear.

I have been aware of this problem for a few years, I am (A YOUNG) 40, not overweight. This problem has caused me great distress, and is particularly bad if I have to sit through a long meeting at work. At first I thought it was urine, but then I realized it was more sweaty, its horrid. I bath every day, and often change my pants at lunchtime, but I always feel unclean down there when I get home. My pants are often damp, and I always wear cotton, does anyone have a solution? I am always worried that other people can smell this. I am also grateful for the person who posted this as I have always felt as though it was just me.

I too have this problem and have for many years. However, I didn't notice this when I was in high school where I cheered, rode horses, etc...
I once asked my Dr. about it and he said that the inner thighs have alot of sweat glands and this could be the problem. Well, it was embarrassing to ask him in the first place, so I just accepted the answer. I am quite active (49 yrs. old). ride horses, exercise, etc.... and find this to be a very frustrating problem. After exercising or walking a couple of miles in the heat and humidity, I need to change my panties, shorts, etc....I always wear a long shirt to cover that area so no one will notice that I am wet there. Surely someone knows something that can help us. So glad to know that I am not alone but sure would like some help. It is not smelly, just wet.

i am surprised that we are so many out there with this same problem i thought i only have. I am approaching 28 years and my issue is not the sweat soaking my pants but it's the sweaty smell definately not urine or even close, sometimes at night my inner thighs and vagina have excess dripping sweat, i have seen a gyneacologist and she said its the change of hot weather of which i some how believed since my country is not hot and i never had such a problem back home. She gave me some capsules and cream but i feel just a little change.I need help, the panty liners cant help me because mine is the SWEATY SMELL that is so embarrassing i can't even be able to stand infront of my boss or when execising at the gym i am uncormfortable especially when it comes to openning of legs.(even immediately i take a shower the smell is still there(it's like its been permanently stuck there)

I also have had the problem with sweating excessively in the lower area. To the point that if I don't use the AC in my car...when I get out it looks like I've had an accident in my pants. I went to the doctor and told her what was going on. I was pretty embarrassed to mention that my vagina sweats excessively, but I needed a solution BAD. She prescribed DRYSOL. It looks like it could be a roll on deodorant. You apply it once a night for 5 straight days and then once every week after that. IT REALLY WORKS!!!! You can use it everywhere you sweat excessively. Ask your doctor about it. Hope this helps!!! -Nee

OMG!!! I have the same problem! Which is how I found this forum. It is completely humiliating. It didn't start until the last 2 years, I'm 29. I am always looking around at the gym to see if anyone is experiencing the same thing but it seems like I was alone on this one. I even have a trainer and I'm almost ashamed to work out with him. I know I'm not getting the full workout because I'm too busy hoping he doesn;t think I peed on myself :-( Hopefully a solution surfaces for this!

I work out 4-5 times a week and am about 20lbs heavier than I should be at 158lbs. I noticed that occasionally it would look like I wet my pants during and after my workouts. At first I figured it was sweat. It got worse and it now looks like I def. wet my pants even though there is no odor and even went to the gyne and was told everything looks fine. I realized it is just sweat. I have bigger thighs and figure that is why it is getting worse. . I could be sitting in the heat or just moving about the house and it will start around my bikini line and then grow. I can no longer wear cotton pants to run or workout in and must wear special wicking or spandex pants but you can still see it if you look closely enough. Now it's starting to put me in very embarrasing situations. I too look around to see if anyone else has my problem and have seen only very few at the gym. Any ideas on easing the sweat from this region. Normal or not it makes me really uncomfortable.

I am overweight and notice most of my sweat comes from my thighs or outer vagina. I use femfresh for odour control, and talc the insides of my thighs and under my tummy. I don't have a probblem unless it's really hot or Im more active than usual. I have lost over a stone in weight recently and noticed that the sweating has decreased. I also avoid garlic and other spicy foods as I find they make the problem worse.
