I have lost my husband last year. Since then I have trouble with going out of the house, and I have find some kind of relief in eating. Of course, this kind of life caused gaining weight. Last months my daughter made me to go on a summer vacation to grab some sun and to feel better. It helped, but when I came home I have noticed that my belly button is red. Is it possible that it is infected because of too much fat?
Hi! First of all I want to say that I feel sorry for your loss. Now, the infection of your belly button can be related with your weight. But mostly, because of the filth that can easily penetrate in your belly button. You are probably sweating more than before, and the dirt is retained easier. Since you were on a holiday, and if it was a holiday by the beach, there are plenty of reasons for your belly button to be infected. To solve your problem clean the area thoroughly and afterwards makes sure that you dry it really well. You could also use peroxide and then put antibiotic ointment on the area.
Hello, my heart goes out to you on the loss of your Husband. In the past I have gained weight quickly. I had the same problem, red, irritated, inchy & burning navel. Even putting water on it stung. I agree on the hydrogene peroxide (to clean it) and want to add A & D ointment. The A & D seemed to help sooth the area.
I think there is also an issue, with people who gain a large amount of belly fat very fast) of the tummy skin becoming irritated in an area that no longer see's the light of day *smile* . I think if it had happened when you were younger your body would have responded with stretch marks. IMO, who knows? Try the A & D after the peroxide rinse. Does it hurt to stick a Q-tip in there? Thats what mine used to do. Just put drops of the peroxide on your BB and let it sink in. Will burn at first, because its so irritated. Not filthy, irritated. Use the A & D a little later after the irritation has let up some.
Take care and again, my heart to you and yours in this time of loss.
