Prior to rubber band surgery, i had been suffering from piles and blood but since shortly it started to get worse one day: there was a lot of blood in feces and there was too much pain while and after the bowel movement i even tryed a liquid died for a week where i still had 3 bowelmovements,
Finaly went to the surgeon and he said it was external and internal piles wich need to be treated,
I agreed first surgery took place and after 2,5 hours i woke up in a lot of pain where i was injected with morphine and other pain killers.
The nurse which was at my side told me that there was polyp removed in the anal canal and showed it to me.
And also i was told they ligated 2 internal hemeroids,
And 1 external , i could go home same night,
1st bowel movement wasnt pain full,
3rd day unbearable pain started to experience went back to surgeon he done a 2nd surgery and leaked out the external hemeroids.
Now about 5 weeks later i experience pain after bm
With blood pain comes up after 20 minutes and stays for 3 to 4 hours,
Blood is dark color it seems the internal piles is this ligated and didnt fall off after 5 weeks. The pain is the main issue now

I had the banding done 6 days ago and the swelling is awful and BM are painful and I am bleeding as well. I don't know if the banded hemorrhoid has fallen away or not, I am in too much pain to tell. I am using the cream given to me by my GI doctor and hemorrhoid cloths and soaking in the tub (which seems to help) but when I have to have a BM it is back to where it is swollen shut and the pain is unbearable at times. I am not sure if this is normal or not and have a call into the doctor. Would not recommend to anyone :(

I had colonoscopy and Hemorrhoid banding in three Hemorrhoids. I’m now on day 10, I think maybe the second has fallen off. Waiting patiently for #3. Started having BM day of in the evening... not too bad, however about 4 days in as BM occurring several times a day, pain is increasing and pressure is unbearable. Went through OxyContin prescription, and getting a repeat tomorrow. Don’t see surgeon til next wk. I still have Hemorrhoid protruding. I’ve heard that they can’t band outside ones. Anybody know how that is handled?
I still experience pain daily but is diminishing, I think. I do know shortly after every meal I will have BM 3-4 times, and 90%of the time a bladder release too, is that normal to feel pressure on your bladder also. I probably wo t get back to web site again, because I will forget too.

Just thought I’d drop a line.

I had three internal haemorrhoids banded four days ago. I have three fibre drinks before each very small meal, the powdered fibre drink is Metamucil. Only a little pain on the two days after the procedure which was combined with a colonoscopy. Modify your diet, take plenty of high fibre foods and have at least 2 litres of water, this fluid should NOT include tea or coffee as part of that two litres. After day four I have no straining with BM all good. A smidgen of blood clot with BM but nothing alarming.

I had 3 done 9 days ago and they still haven't fallen off and I'm in great discomfort and pain 24/7!!! and since I have stomach ulcers, I can't take any ibuprofin either, so I've been just using my sitz bath around the clock and Tylenol every so often (but trying to limit taking it due to ulcers). WHY is it taking so long for mine to fall off? it it becuz I got 3 done at same time? I'm in agony!!

Unfortunately, I had a pretty bad experience during and after my banding. From what was told to me, I shouldn't have felt pain during the banding but more so pressure, but I actually felt quite a lot of pain during. I was surprised how much pain I actually felt, but I hoped things would get better afterwards. It did not.

Granted, it's now about three days after, but so far, things have gotten in some ways worse. Due to me feeling like I needed to go use the toilet, I ended up pressing too hard and developed a new outer hemorrhoid. I felt pain and discomfort throughout the whole day, and bleeding much more than the nurse said I would. Not sure I want to participate in another banding, as I am supposed to have two more. Idk how much more time I am supposed to go through this pain, but I'm hoping it ends sooner than later.

I had banding done 5 times. It's now a year later and I still have the same problem. It did not work. I had no bleeding nor correction. I think my doctor was a quack!

I have had two banded one at a time about a year apart. The first one lasted 10 day and it was straight hell for all of them. The first was worst experience imaginable, but the second was a cake walk. The second banding came of about 42 hours post procedure with little to no pain. Getting a RBL is like playing Russian roulette. I'm writing this 3 days post banding and feel fine. Just a little irritation caused by healing (i hope).

I used some dental floss knots and also little rubber bands this time..The string cut off the blood and worked faster. The rubber bands hurt still after 8 days as BM was irritating .Im hanging with pain and saving a lot of $....Worked good a few years ago but JACK CAME BACK...

It has been recommended to me by a rectal surgeon to have a band ligation for an internal hemorrhoid. I have had internal and external hemorrhoids for over 30 years sometimes with bleeding, sometimes with major external swelling and pain. The symptoms over the past year now include mucousy discharge and occasional fecal leakage (not incontinence) to the point that I have to wear panty liners to protect my clothing. After reading these recovery posts, I'm inclined to put up with the nuisance of the discharge. I'm 66, in pretty good health, but don't want the pain of recovery. The surgeon description of the procedure and recovery is exactly the same as what people here have stated they were told. Advice is appreciated!

Don’t be put off, talk to your doctor about it. Not all are painful. My Doctor was able to tell me that the location is high enough inside, there will be no pain (no nerve receptors higher up). He was, right. Significant discomfort but no unbearable pain.
