I am having the same problem as well. Very strange heart fluttering and loss of breath when swallowing while eating food or drinking liquid. I am starting Prilosec today, we'll see how that goes as it seems to be the only possible cure I have been able to find.
Hello tcouncilman23722 how are you doing now did you resolve this issue?
Hello everyone,
I too suffer with the ongoing issue Oct 2015-present. As I've been told, don't worry. Take your medicine, regularly. There really isn't a "fix" because if there were I'd camp over night (like iphone buyers) to be the first in line.
I've struggle with this every swallow - yes - with water. I did a "show and tell" for Cardiologist, Electrophysicologist (as I also have a pacemaker) and they were very surprised at the frequency. A heart monitor for 48hr showed about 2,000 "episodes". Dr. prescribed me Flecainide Acet. 50mg morning & night. IT HELPS. Still have issues, but not as prominent.

I am a 58 year old female and I have the exact symptoms, my heart beats fast or skips beats while eating and drinking. I've been taking zantac for about a year. I need help!
Thank you thank you!!!! None of my doctors can figure out what i say going on because of course when I wear an event monitor nothing happens. My beta blocker was upped about a year ago and that's when he noticed the swallowing issue!
Omg I have this too!! It's happening right now and strangely at night... I can't sleep!! I'm a 33 yo female.
I seem to have episodes where ot happens and sometimes after swallowing, sometI mes it's just it's feel a pressure in my oesophagus or belching and I get flutters. I hate it and it's scary!
When I asked my doctor if arrhythmia could be linked to digestion, she said no. I asked for a test and got a cardio-memo for the last 2 weeks, and I'm glad if had some episodes to record, but when I got at the hospital to get that monitor, I asked the girl that explained me how this works if digestion could be related, and she said usually no but maybe it could be in rare cases, but she was seeming to seemingly it's not supposed to, like seemingly he probably never encountered it.
I hate that they don't know about its, and reading andll these posts conorms the link between arrhythmia and digestion andll that I'm not crazy!!
I have avic reflux and I'm. Pretty sure this is what's causing it...
I'm curious for my cardio-memo results now... hope it's nothing serious and it's just a benign annoyance...

THANK YOU for posting this!!! It is so helpful. I hope you are doing better. I am curious about the beta blockers making them worse. I had a vagotomy many years ago, but I'm not sure what part of the nerve was cut. Your post has a made a real difference for me. Blessings to you!!!
Yes simultaneously with bloating in my stomach and swallowing.
What is causing skipped heartbeats when swallowing food or liquid? I also get it occasionally without swallowing, but where I feel gas coming up through the windpipe. Does anyone else get this?
Wow. my problems started in the last few weeks. I went to the ER thinking I had PVC's. (Premature ventricular contractions), rarely caught on a 10 second ECG. But after reading the comments here I realize it's the vagas nerve, esophageal irritation most likey due to acid reflux. When my weight is up I do get heartburn which can lead to long term problems including esophageal cancer. I've been on a beta blocker for 15 years and I wonder if that made things worse, as mentioned by another poster. I need to investigate that further.
I turned in the holter monitor today at my cardiologist. Waiting on his call, but I'm thinking I should get my gastro-enterologist involved. Lying on my back seems to ebate the skipped beats/flutter. Takes pressure off the vagus nerve maybe? Let's opened up this thread again. It really helped me.
