I am 61 and have been in Sales all of my life. I drive everywhere, approx 25K miles each year. I am also a Prostate patient, having it removed 3 yrs ago. I am also a PD (Parkinson's) patient with mild tremors. During the past 3 months, I am experiencing mild to severe pain near the hip joint while driving. I have noticed a loss of the fleshy portion of my butt also. I have tried several positions of the seat, even swapping cars with my wife, recently purchased a car with heated seats and multi-position electric seat for the driver. I have found relief from massaging the fleshy area just above the hip joints (both sides are affected), but only momentary relief. If I drive for more than 1-2 hrs, I have to get out of the car and walk around for 5-10 minutes for the pain, spasms to go away. After this exercise I am usually good for 1/2 hr+ of driving before the spasms kick in again. During my average day, I am in/out of the car a doz times walking to offices, industrial mfg buildings...walking seems to help. I do not experience shooting pains down my legs and infrequently have numbness in my toes.
Could my aching butt spasms be related to my PD?
Should I try a Medical Seat System that has massage features?
Are there exercises that I could learn to build up the fleshy part of my butt?
Thanks for your response.
