Ugggggh, I keep having these god awful headaches and I take tylenol for them but it doesn't do much good. My blood sugars have been running a bit low lately so I kind of wonder whether the headaches are because of that? has anyone else had this happen to them? How did you get the headaches to go away?
Hello, guest: I see that you are having frequent headaches, and they are getting you down. How long have you been having these? Have you checked your blood sugars when these headaches episodes occur? It would be interesting to see if your headaches correlate with low blood sugars. You may be experiencing hypoglycemia when you have these headaches. Do you also feel shaky, weak, or clammy or perhaps a little disoriented with the headaches? I would be concerned that you are having low blood sugars and not know it. Next time you start getting these headaches, try to take your blood sugar reading and see what it says. If it is too low, obviously you want to eat something quick like a small candy bar or 4 oz of juice with a teaspoon of sugar. If you find that your headache goes away by doing this as your blood sugar goes back up, you need to watch for this from now on. Letting yourself have hypoglycemia and not doing anything about it could lead to unconsciousness or coma. You will need to be diligent and keep an eye out for any of the symptoms of hypoglycemia that I mentioned.
Are there others with diabetes that have terrible headaches when their blood sugars are too low? What symptoms do you experience with hypoglycemia? What do you do about your low blood sugars that is most effective in bring them back to a normal range?
