Well......after the doc took a look at my groin area.....ie... the area ending at the ball sack continuing onto the neighboring area between my a**hole and my scrotum...i.e....(the taint for you street folk) she immediately told me it looks like a YEAST infection....as a male this made me feel awkward knowing that this type of infection is most common and associated with women....but any answers to the itchy burning feeling downtown with literally no other side effects that would be associated with an std or whatever down there led me to be relieved to hear that it was a yeast infection....but yeast infections only happen to ladies....I thought...she said "while most commonly they do...." they happen across sexes as a result of moisture build up and bacteria that finds that same special place with all sorts of life and essentially an environment that allows foreign microfucks to hide and thrive....anyways...I have been on Amoxicylin for a few days now....have drank pretty heavily every nigh since starting the cycle...and whether or not I am supposed to or not...it has started working.....so drink up p***y's......least that can happen is that ya get drunk.  And drunk is good. At least better than being sober and fear mongered into being healthy to take care of an illness that is most likely curable yet big pharma has realized treatment is better than a cure......my treatment....a docs visit...an honest conversation on how I will drink while on meds...and his or her take on the situation compared to my previous experiences...everyone reacts different to medication....I am a functioning alcoholic bartender in New York who makes a great salary....yet no health insurance.....whiskey cures all.  Hangovers only remind you that you are alive....stop complaining!

I drank on antibiotics once and woke up in the car park of a supermarket. Not the brightest idea.

Its perfectly fine to mix alcohol and other medication my mom said she's always done it.

Steadyhealth has an article about this topic that you should read. It's not always "perfectly fine". That is dangerous advice (for example tylenol and alcohol should NEVER be mixed!).

That is exatly right...too much frinking itself causes toxicity...which with some drug will just mske it worse!

I'd say just hang in there till u finish any medication...

I know people who drsnk while on dialsys and on chemo.... They lived but took them hell of a time to recover and hell of pain while recovery.

I am just a normal guy wo usually drink more than 500ml a day.... Flush it out with lots of water... When on alcohol or on drugs.

I find that ADULTS have to have everything spelled out for them - what they can and cannot do while they are sick!!!!    You are NOT 2 year olds - for god sake use some common sense ......IF YOU ARE SICK - stay out of the booze.......or maybe this is why you don't know - too much booze.   Really?!!?!?!  Does the doctor HAVE to tell you - NO ALCOHOL, NO PARTYING, in big bold print!!!   Come on!!! The last thing you want to do is be sick - miss work - lose your job and then blame the doctor because the antibiotics didn't work when actually - it was YOUR OWN FAULT but you fail to accept the blame because you couldn't stop drinking long enough to get better!      UNREAL!!!!

I have just started taking antibiotics, doctor told me not to consume alcohol while on this course for a week 2 times a day of 625 MG tablet but after hearing from few guys told me the effect of 1 tablet is effective for 4 hours and after that if you consume alcohol it will not give the symptoms as you have mentioned, so I thought just to take 1 dose of morning only and have a drink in evening. Do you think this will work?

You're thinking is illogical. If you know that two ingested substances will compete for enzymatic reactions, you can not assume that will increase the lifetime of one or the other. Both pass and pass with their normal speed. It as to do with metabolization. If the antibiotic is not metabolized, it will pass and not have an increased lifetime. That is what causes the ill feeling stomach or what-have-you. So be careful of telling wrong information even with good purpose.

Hi there, I am now taking amoxicillan and metronidazole antibiotics for a tooth abscess. I would love to relax with a glass of wine before bed, as its been a hell of a day. Is it safe to do so?

Jules, your post is 3 weeks old so you may have already found out the hard way. Both of those drugs (unlike most antibiotics) are bad news with alcohol. Metronidazole in particular causes extreme nausea and vomitting before or after alcohol. Hope you survived.
