Yesterday he said it was ok to drink a pop or eat a chocolate bar after a workout... Isn't that the point of fruit?? :umno: Now I'm afraid to listen to anything he says.

Hey fellow Canadian. Good to see another hoser on the board.

Not sure if your gym teacher is recommending the best thing after a work out but I would at least apply a 3 strike rule. Two more strange recommendations and then you can be scared.

fruit would be better than the simple sugar found in chocolate or soda which will just cause an insulin spike and then fall and make you feel :| depleted real fast. juice isn't the best after workout drink either cuz it has too much simple sugar in it. stay away from fruit juice and go with gatorade or powerade. i also read that juice will actually dehydrate you cuz it digests really fast.

best thing to have is carbohydrate and protein combined...like peanut butter crackers and gatorade....if you're gonna have candy, then have the crackers after the candy cuz your insulin levels won't spike and fall that way.

he probably means if you're gonna eat c**p, then it's less harmful overall if you have just worked out and need really the calories, as opposed to have been inactive all day and then pound down some simple sugar...maybe.
