Is it safe to take trazodone for sleep while also being on suboxone treatment?
Hi, I'm 20 years old and have been taking narcotics for some time now. I have nerve damage in my neck which causes my debilitating headaches and neck pain. Luckily, I finally found a doctor who is willing to help me instead of instantly judging me as a drug seeker. However I have been through numerous withdrawals, and what I found that may help some of the symptoms are:
- For anxiety, restlessness, inability to sleep: Benadry in combination with Compazine (a prescribed nausea medication) along with Trazadone
- For hot/cold sweats: lots and lots of showers and baths, light clothes
- For irritability, mood swings, etc: Antidepressants such as the generic form of Effexor, Librium (which is a MILD sedative, or Adavan ( another MILD sedative), and pot ( which is tricky because it may or may not intensify negative emotions or psychological state)
Appetite: pot, exercise
Lack of Energy: DHEA, B vitmains, exercise
Nausea: Compazine or other nausea medications (preferably prescribed),pot
Overall symptom relief: Ultram, Neurontin, Tramadol, Klonopin-(for muscle aches and mood), and if you can afford it Cymbalta may SOMETIMES help, and stay as busy as you can.

Even though I have a legitimate reason to take opiates, I have experienced withdrawals many, many times. I have really dark and depressing thoughts (suicidal), hopelessness, feeling misunderstood, depressed, unmotivated, lonely, etc. I have also been to rehab for a very short time because it made me worse than when I came in and I still had severe, chronic pain. If you do plan to go to rehab, visit the facilities first rather than believe what you read on their website. Once you do go to a rehab center it is on your record, and many doctors will not help you if you actually do need pain meds for a legitimate reason. You can do this at home. I've been there many times! It is possible, and you are not alone. Just remember how long you've been taking the substance and the dose you've been taking will all effect how long detox will take. There is such a thing called being "opiate naive" where people who have never in the life taken opiates will be heavily affected, while others, who have taken opiates have different brain chemistry. Flooding your brain with opiates (which to the brain, resemble endorphins, will create more receptors to receive the intake of opiates. These receptor are permanent, and that's why we have to re-wire our brain to accept natural endorphins, rather than the the kind you get from opiates. It really doesn't tale that long to detox, but to rewire your brain take years, and that is the true uphill battle because you may be clean but you will have the urge to use for quite a long time. But to ease the nasty symptoms of withdrawal, these things always helped me
