I like you have used all of the above. I find Tramadol has no effect on my pain and neither does Ultram. So I'm relegated to either. oxycodone or hydrocodone. The only problem I have is that they make me itch so must take a benadryl with the pill. So needless to say I only take them when necessary. Have just come off my 3rd back surgery the heavy duty stuff is the only thing that gives me some sleep relief. If I don't have any benadryl around, well let's just say I'm up for hour itching. So I don't take it. I keep asking the Doctor for something for pain and all the generics are sw watered down I might as well take an advil or an aleve. For the back spasms, I take cyclobenzaprine a generic for Flexeril. RR320 do you find the oxycodone works better without the Acetaminophen? Never had it without. I think I'll discuss this with Dr. Thanks for that tidbit of info.

Doctor couldn't get hydrocodne 7.5 750 anymore so she put me on 7.5 325, My question is am I going to get the same releif as the 7.5 750 for my back pain? If not what is the difference between them? Thanks for any help you can give me. The goverment said it could ruin your live from too my tyneol that the 750 had in it so that why they lowered the dose.

There is never a "guarantee" of anything causing a addiction at any given dose. Addiction depends on MANY different variables. And your assesment of "norco" is erroneous. Norco is nothing more than loratab with low dose APAP 325 instead of 500. It has nothing to do with Ibuprofen or Asprin. Bottom line there is NO direct mg to mg equivalency of narcotic drugs. One has to consider cross tolerance, incompletge tolerance, individual physiology, health, ect ect. If you really want to know how to get equivalent pain releif from a new med ask your dr....usually it will involve starting low and titrating up to a effective dose. Reading the inserts and monograms ith meds is helpful, but you wont make yourself a pharamcist by "self educating" with website largely because you dont have the medical background or training to know what your reading and the caveats associated with the information. I Base this on years of responding as a fire medic to overdoses, medical emergencies, and dealing with very sick people in emergency and medical settings. Having said that, Im no DR, and you should ONLY get your drug information from your DR. If your seeking information on recreational drug use, then al that can be said is ANY use outside of the presecribed instructions may or may not be fatal, I strongly advise against it having seen first hand from even the most modest recereational uses people die from unexpected uses that they had previously used with no problems. You way the risks, its your life not mine.

Very happy there are people like you to set people straight. I am here to say that I have complete trust and faith in my very conservative dr. He has helped my become a mother and wife again. I have been taking some of these meds and I am very grateful to have them. I am one of the few I guess that can take them as directed even when I am not getting complete relief. People need to know that you are not always going to get the relief you desire or have gotten on other occasions. In knowing that I do not keep taking more because I know this will lead to more , more , more. With no relief. You have to realize that sometimes pain can not be completely alleviated. So taking as little as possible has helped me be semi productive and off my what I consider a suicidal person with no reason to live. The pain was so that I couldn't function as a mother and that was unbearable. I am glad you put your post up for I do know that people get trapped in a never ending pill popping life. But I hope there are dr. Out there like mine who understand at least try and assess the person individually as opposed to lumping us all in this untreatable place. I feel I am being helped so that I can be productive at least present in my own life. Thank you for reading and writing.

Dilaudid does NOT guarantee addiction in OR by it's 3rd dose or I guess I wouldn't have been put on Opana ER for a few weeks and decided that I didn't LIKE it and asked to be put on something else. The same for Oxycontin. I wasn't too fond of that one, either. Exalgo , same thing. There are NO guarantees that any ONE patient will, or will not, become "addicted" to any certain medication by a certain dose OR at ALL. Yeah, the info IS out there, IF you look for it. There are NO absolutes that all medicines will work the same for all patients, much less guarantees to such.

I am 67 year old female. Recently I was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis. My hands and feet are the main areas where I feel the most pain. Now I am getting severe pain in my heels. I am on Vicodin but last night nothing worked!. I also have IBS along with back issues. Right now I am having new MRI's of my neck and lumbar areas. Possibly some injections might be an option.? I need to know what to medication to ask for regarding "break out pain meds." I am very careful not to over use. Please suggest a medication?. Last night was just horrible. I couldn't even put my heels on the sheets.

you're a m***n...its a documented known fact oxy Co Down is one and a half times stronger than your hydrocodone....so 5 milligram oxycodone is equal to 7.5 hydrocodone...how and your book is that the same medication and dosage...having taken both medications I can assure you oxycodone is way more potent than you are hydrocodone...if you have a toothache hydrocodone is fine but if you have chronic pain you need something stronger such as oxycodone

I know this is an old thread. Hoping maybe someone will read it. Long story short I've battled my left hand for three years now. I had my second surgery and sure enough spiral broke the wrist and have nearly 20 fractures in my left fingers all together. Doctor refuses to do surgery as it "appears very tiny bone fibers are forming". It's been almost three months and the pain is horrid. They've had me 30mgs morphine (2xs day) and 5mg Percocet (1 every six) for nearly three years now. It took the Army EIGHTEEN MONTHS to realize my thumb was DISLOCATED and it's been surgery and hell since then. I've been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia from all the trama to my hand foot as the Army took too long to fix both and can't seem to get my surgery right. Just happens to be "complications" every year. So much pain!! Left hand hurts about a level 7/8 24/7. Pain meds help sometimes but dang. Three years. Same pain meds. I just want relief from this chronic pain!
