Is Smoking Weed in Pregnancy Bad?

Bottom line, hospitals can, will and do test for drugs. I'm in Texas. Premature birth or going in to the hospital early for false labor will automatically trigger the test.

CPS WILL be contacted. You can discuss pros and cons of weed all day. Bottom line, CPS will be contacted. You DO NOT want these people in your life.

Oh, btw, "experts" on the news are just as smart as you or I - they just know to use journals. So don't trust them - ALWAYS DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH WITH SCIENTIFIC JOURNALS.

Please.. don't comment after me. I want people to know that smoking weed is bad for prenatal fetuses. If you think otherwise, or if the government if skewing these results, I would be willing to hear otherwise, but only if you have solid evidence. Keep in mind, these papers are often published by scientists and graduate students - they enjoy spliffs just as much as the next guy, so I don't think they have reason to lie.

first off i'd like to say that most of the people on here bitching probably have never been addicted to weed. & didn't become pregnant while being a smoker. they are just going off the bad information about smoking while pregnant that they find on google. I am 8 months pregnant and my dr told me it would actually be worse to quit,more stress on the baby i have a perfect healthy baby and all is good. so you guys need to find your info somewhere else.

what i find hard to believe is that these ppl are actually telling you to listen to doctors and what they say... smh, it's a shame... my 'high-risk' doctor actually advised me to take a benzopine (valium) and barbituate (fioricet) for anxiety and migraines. I am a healthcare worker myself and looked in my PDR (physicians desk reference) and it states that both of these pharmceuticals HAVE been tested and cause birth defects in fetus' . and then he also told me to quit smoking cigs (cut from 10 to 3 per day) and chew nicorette or put a patch on. I was shocked!!!  i feel sad for the young girls out there that are looking for guidance and get a bunch of sh*t sticks to suck on and not the truth. don't listen to these doctors or the rest of these m****s that are telling you that you're harming your baby. Trust in God and be proud that you are taking care of business....

PS. the reason why they don't have "any evidence to show effects of marijuana on a fetus", is cause there isn't any... with technology and science today why wouldn't they already have evidence to bash something that is natural and comes from the earth??? 

I came across this thread by searching smoking weed while pregnant, and this was the most recent one so I figured I was more likely to get a response. I was immediately drawn to your post about it not being bad for you ^ & I just wanted more reassurance although I may not be pregnant I've just got this feeling. I have 3 more days til I will test but if so I will be about 4 weeks pregnant & I smoke weed daily. I am also only 17 years old and was in no way trying to conceive, but sh*t happens & I feel so in tune with my body the past week & just have this feeling but I am horrified to even face the truth I think that's why I've been okay with not telling anyone or taking a test yet but if I am I do not even know how I would go about it. I am not strong enough to be a pregnant woman, I just know it. But I will not have an abortion. I'm at a crossroads at this moment in time.. I just don't know if I should quit smoking overall for my babys well being if I am even pregnant or not, does it give any threatening issues to a baby even if it is only nearing 4 weeks? I would just appreciate any feedback whatsoever, I'm a nervous wreck...
